That and you are always going to find people that are happy with their cars. Many people love their Imprezas even with some of its perceived shortcomings.

Well- burning oil is going to cause crud to accumulate in other places.
That Aussie that tore down an fb and posted pics on the web sure seemed to think there was a lot of potential for crud and failure.
I've never said Audi's were any better than any other car.
But if you are jaded toward the Impreza and Subaru, it is one of the cars one may be looking at. I want an R32 or something if I get rid of this thing.
*maybe* a wrx, but I'm very leery of Subarus now.

If it is causing you that much grief (which it apparently is), and you have the ability to get something else (which I believe you can), what are ya waiting for? You justify the purchase of other cars when people tell you the problems they have, so I really don't know what your MO is? Not trying to be a jerk, really...

Emotions and fiscal responsibility dont go together. I bought this turd and while it has a *" warranty"* I don't think dumping it is very fiscally responsible. I knew before I signed that a NEW car is not the most affordable way to go, but really wanted a new one for once. So, I'll continue to explore the problem with others, log my oil useage with soa, and keep my fingers crossed that maybe someone will make me an offer I cant refuse on a different car.
Do I hate the car? Yes.
But not enough to go rushing to lose thousands of dollars.
And another thing tht I should point out is that I am admittedly addicted to and spoiled by subaru's awd system. It would be a bit of a loss to go back to fwd.
I know we dont have snow and we dont *need* awd, but after 14+ months of driving with it, I feel it is a vast improvement in terms of controllability in all sorts of conditions. It does rain a lot at times and it works like a charm.

Would you guys who know about Subarus more than myself care to comment on the 2011 and down models?
Would a trade for a similarly-equipped 2011 Impreza satisfy me? I really think that some extra power and better seats would be nice.

But you talk about these other cars like you are going to buy one. If he aforementioned reasons for not selling your car are true, why are you even talking about it? I just don't get you. Again, in the same post you are asking about trading in your '12 for an '11, you contradict yourself in the same post!

That said, the '11 and earlier have the 4EAT (standard 4 speed automatic), it may suit some drivers more than the CVT. If you are not a fan of the new interior, you will probably not be happy with that style. My STI is the same model, I don't especially care for the body style, but I get by because it's fast.

Its not the 2012 interior that bothers me. Just the seats.

You're right no one forces me to post in this thread. I feel this has become a whine session of yours and that is why I tell you to just sell your damn car. Get that R32 or A3 so you'll be happy and in turn we will be happy. If you want to keep it, do some more proactive things like a consumption test. If you are afraid that you won't meet the threshold, them guess what.... You're just SOL unless you sell your car. Those are the facts of life.

So, the facts of life are to allow false advertising? I disagree.

What the hell are you talking about? Your MPG complaining has nothing to do with our conversation. I'm talking about 79's oil consumption issues. He has not beef with the MPGs. You need to just sell your car or sue SOA - that simple.

My mistake - you were talking about the CVT previously in this thread. Don't shoot the messenger...

So I just got done making an appointment to fix a broken lumbar spring clip in my seat back for the THIRD time and to start a consumption test.

Last time they told me they were going to start a consumption test, but didn't. This time I'm not leaving there unless they do! I'm not getting jerked around anymore. I'm so sick of seeing that frigging oil light come on all the time. I drive a lot so it only takes a couple weeks or so for the oil to drop low enough for the light to come on now. Not cool...

Is the clip actually broken, or did it pop off like mine did? I tweaked the hook so it can't anymore

I love how the same people.come in here and repeatedly tell me I'm a "whiner" and to sell my car, etc.
Go start your own thread! NO ONE IS HOLDING A GUN TO YOUR KIDS' HEADS AND FORCING YOU TO READ AS MYSELF AND OTHER LAMENT OUR CARS NOT LIVING UP TO THE QUALITY WE DESERVE AND PAID FOR.
ANYONE COMING IN HERE TO FLAME SOMEONE FOR GETTING A ****TY CAR AND ****TY TREATMENT IS JUST A LAME ASS SUBARU FAN BOY.
I have had a freaking test scheduled to start at my next service. So I think you either dont read things or cant remember them for very long.

You aussies seem like much smarter people than the editors of Consumer Reports. The oil light and level don't seem to concearn them in the least.
