Where do you find out about past and recent tsbs/recalls for our imprezas?

That was an East Coast only recall? What's the reasoning behind that? I was under the impression it was a recall for all 2012 Imprezas built before a certain date.

The only recall that affected all was the brake master cylinder iirc.

The ecu one they are talking about has something to do with coolant temp or light.

The ecu TSB was for PZEV cars and the coolant light, correct?

I'm pretty sure the ecu thing was more than just a TSB. I received and actual recall notice for the ecu reprogramming. You may be right, however, about it only being for certain PZEV Imprezas. If you didn't receive a notice, then it's not applicable to your car.

My first 3 oil changes i had no burned oil, my last 3 oil changes have been after 2500 miles the oil light comes on. The dealer ship said they have done valve adjustments on some legacy's but no imprezas. They did give me a free oil change ($90 value) and have me come iin for "oil consumption test" which is no more than checking the dip stick.
SOA says buring 1qt of oil every 1000 miles is "completely normal" at 10$ per quart. how then would i be able to go the recommended 7000 miles between oil changes? This car would burn off all the oil by the time i got to 5k mi?

Do you know about how much you are burning? Unfortunately, If you're not over 1 quart per 1200 miles, they're just going to tell you that its normal and send you on your merry way.

If you're not burning much oil, but your low oil light keeps coming on, I think there may be a TSB fix for that.

I have only driven 400 mi so far. I asked them to collect the oil that came out last time and they 'forgot' to. My dip stick was almost dry when the light was on, I added a quart and it turned off for a week or two till i made it in for the change. Should I just run her dry, ignore the light, blow the motor and warranty a new one? HA!

Lol. I have a feeling you'd be SOL if you ignored your oil light and grenaded your engine. Just saying...

If I were you, I'd call up SOA and let them know what's going on and tell them that your very dissatisfied with the amount of oil that your engine is consuming. They'll open a case and work with you and your dealership to hopefully resolve your problem. If they find that your engine isn't consuming enough oil to warrant repairs, then, well that really sucks and you either deal with owning a car with a POS oil burning engine or you get rid if it and buy something else I guess.

Let me know how that works out but im pretty sure negligence on your part (it would be pretty obvious if they checked and your light worked) voids the warranty

I wouldn't hurt my car on purpose. Every time I go in to the dealer they have comped the oil change so I'll ride that til they stop. The manual says to stop driving when the oil light comes on. Once I call roadside assistance enough times maybe subaru will get tired of sending out trucks and just adjust my valves/rings. Luckily I purchased the 100k extended bumper to bumper warranty.

Thats actually not a bad idea at all! I wish I would have thought of that. Probably would have saved me some time and headaches trying to push my dealership into taking action with my car. Hope everything works out for you. Keep us updated.

No it doesn't. It says to park in a safe and level location, check the oil level and correct it if necessary.

Oil level light = amber
Oil pressure light = red

For the red light:

In case you're serious, the amber light has a wavy line below it.

Seems like its definitely more cases than "just a few unique individuals".
I need to get to the dealer soon. But its an hour or so drive. At least I've only lost 1.5 qt this time around.
Thing that really irritated me was when I had to borrow some mobil10w20 from my friend whose Toyota Tundra will go 10,000 miles on 0w20 with no appreciable oil loss.

As often as you've checked the dipstick on your Impreza, I'm surprised you let that light sneak up on you in the XV.

In my opinion, 79 has good reason to be disheartened. I don't blame him one bit.

But then again, I lived through a lot of stress and misery with my 2010 VW Golf TDI's issues (and issues with the VW dealership, and issues with VWoA), so maybe it's easier for me to empathize than it is for you.

+1. I would voice my discontent on here as well if I was having the same luck as him. It's apparent that Subaru hasn't solved this issue yet, regardless of how small a percentage of people it affects

What luck? His car is burning a quart every 5K. I'm not sure exactly what he plans to do at the dealership. His consumption rate would need to quadruple before they'll give him any consideration.
