That's the craziest BS I ever heard! The dealership can refuse to work on your car because you were honest and gave them a low customer satisfaction rating on a survey?!? I'm sorry, but that's some messed up *****. F them a-holes. Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

I'm reading through this thread as I'm very close to buying a 2012 Impreza myself, and I'm checking to see what issues people are having. So far I've read about a squeaky seat and strange oil level light behavior. Any other issues I should be aware of?

Regarding the statement quoted above, I would never make a decision about whether the manufacturer's recommended Oil Change Interval (OCI) is too infrequent by simply looking with my eyes at the cleanliness of the oil. A better approach would be to have a Used Oil Analysis (UOA) done by a lab like Blackstone.

http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

With modern engines and modern oils, I can't believe that changing the oil more frequently than 5k miles is necessary or advantageous in any way. I wouldn't change my oil at 3750 miles without first having Blackstone tell me that the oil was no good at 5k or 7.5k. Eyeballing the oil is not informative, IMHO.

I'm skeptical about this. I'm coming from a VW Golf TDI, which uses synthetic oil, and which has a 10k oil change interval as recommended by VW and confirmed by many TDI enthusiasts who used Blackstone to confirm this seemingly long OCI.

Anyway, the oil in a TDI is always black. And that's normal, expected, and accepted by knowledgeable TDI owners. VW TDIs require a very particular synthetic oil because of its particle suspension properties.

Those of you who like to use visual reference to determine oil quality should never buy a TDI. You can literally change your oil and then drive around the block for a test drive, and the oil is black again. Perfectly normal for a TDI.

What's really shocking to me is that after all this time and aggrivation I have no rresolution to my problems and SOA are really not stepping up and taking care of any of this. Soa didn't seem to care when I told them that I was told by the dealer what to put on the CS survey. So- if you answer honestly and you're not satisfied with the service, they just call subaru and say you're no longer welcome at the dealer. Soa, imo, should take some sort of action against the dealer. From my shoes it looks like they'll let ANYONE run a subaru dealer however they want, customers be damned.
I don't think its ethical in business to have a corporate survey and to allow the franchised dealer to "ex-communicate" an owner based on his answers to questions regarding his/her experiences or opinions.
I had a service appointment AND warranty work scheduled. No one called to cancel. I took my car in and didn't get any of the work done. So naturally I was NOT at all satisfied. They really expect me to answer with "10's"???
They got 1's and 2's, and I felt THOSE were generous!!!
I'm now writing in white on the back window- "Bill Bryan sold me this lemon and won't fix it!"

Attitude; both positive and negative, go a long way. A ranting and raving customer that is hard to deal with could result in a very negative outcome. Not knowing your attitude, I can not be judgmental; however, it is what it is - or appears to be.

Honey and vinegar. Although I'm not happy about the issues with my car. SOA and the dealer are doing their best to keep me happy. We'll see if that continues once this consumption test is completed.

* Oil consumption (this thread, see poll also).
* Passenger side occupancy sensor trouble.
* Water in the door: either won't drain properly or window will come-up wet long after the rain.
* Rattles and creaks.
* Occasional hard/delayed start.
* Some people have a hard time getting the city millage of 27 MPG, mostly with CVT (they are getting low 20's, I believe).
* Low radio sound quality.
* High fan noise, without much air flow.
* CVT driveability: too much breaking down hill and shifting to higher ratios too soon while accelerating: TSBs out - should be fixed on current build dates.

I have had a few creaks, mainly from the top of the dash where it meets the info display{plastic part) on high temp days and the steering column which was fixed under a TSB, but my biggest complaint is the low 20 high teen mpg in city only driving, otherwise its a solid car

Well- there wasn't any "attitude" on my part- and I never once brought up any of my problems around other customers. I asked to speak to the manager in private. They literally banned me from the dealership for that survey. That and they lied to both myself and soa, and were caught in those lies.

From my perspective, attitude does ooze from your ~500 posts. I believe what you state regarding the dealership; however, SOA should stand behind their product. We have three Subaru dealerships in my area - two of which I have done business with and a third that I simply refuse to do business with because I feel that they are both sleazy and dishonest. Try to reestablish a report with SOA and see if they can provide you some "misery" comfort with having to have you car serviced at a dealer that is so far away. Remember "Honey and not Vinegar".

G-

BTW - If I take all you have said at face value as true and it happened to me, the dealer would have possession of and be paying for the car rather than I.

I've not sugar-coated anything. I swear its all true. My mom answered when they called, she even told them they were crazy to say that a brand new car should burn oil and have all the other issues. They told her that my answers to the CS survey Subaru emailed to me were grounds for my not being welcome at the dealer. It wasn't any attitude I had. A few of the employees even privately have told me that they would be upset if it was their car.

That. They can wait til you burn yourself out, all day long. I never fill out customer service serveys, ever. If you take your car into a dealer you've just declared war on, it's like sending food back to the chef at a restaurant. The spit WILL fly. You are lucky they fired you, at this point, cuz now you know they wont mess with your car when it's in for service. I agree, though, that SOA is wrong when they support a dealer's decision to 86 you for filling out a survey. Something, though, just isn't adding up.

Just google Bill Bryan Subaru and you'll see why it isn't adding up. They have a horrible reputation. They aren't even bbb accredited. I don't really care who believes what, I have a car with ongoing problems and all I've gotten are lies and empty promises.
But yall are right- I wouldn't want them touching my car. I just think Subaru should do something here. As a consumer, I definitely have gotten shafted by these crooks.

I feel your pain. I just went through the same thing with my VW dealership in Rochester, NY, and with VW of America. Ended up selling it, which is why I'm in the market for an Impreza now. I suspect my Subaru dealership will be more satisfying than yours. Hopefully I'm not just being an optimist.

Hello,

My name is Veronica. I'm an active member on the g35 and g37 boards with the same screen name. A little history about me, I own a g35 and a g37, I have been active in the Orlando car clubs since 2005, and active in the car business since 2010.

I've been an employee at Orlando Infiniti and Orlando Hyundai over the past few years, and I have just taken a new position as the Internet Sales Manager at Bill Bryan Subaru Mitsubishi on June 1st.

Although I do not have thorough knowledge of your particular situation, I would be more than happy to try to help you. Feel free to PM me or shoot me an email to vjones@billbryanautos.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

Also- your co-worker Joe the used car manager made me all sorts of promises. And Jim McKlusky lied about many things, such as but not limited to-
Driving my car in lake county fl counts as "severe driving conditions"
I haven't "done my part topping off the oil"- well I've watched my oil as well documented with receipts as well as 500++ posts on this forum.
That "all new cars burn oil"
All I did was POLITELY refute some of his claims and asked to see in writing what he was suggesting.
The manager Tim (who I've ALWAYS kept a good report with) called my sick mother to tell her to "let me know not to come back because of the poor scores on the satisfaction survey".
