So this morning at 9:25 I was driving down Minnesota Hwy and I got onto the off-ramp to Dimond Blvd and I was stopped at the stoplight with my turn signal on the left so I can make my way onto Dimond Blvd. the light turns green and I casually turn left onto Dimond and all of a sudden a brown Subaru Outback comes bolting towards me while running a red light and just slams into my driverside fender and door..She "Spaced out"...she also had a baby in the back seat..Thankfully everyone was okay.
My car.. ![]() ![]() Her car ![]()

Sorry to hear about this. Glad everyone is OK.
Welcome to that time of the season...goobers and kooks are everywhere. Here's an example of one I witnessed yesterday...and yes, it was driving. Rear driveshaft is what you see hanging. ![]() Last edited by bjcarter2; 12-09-2012 at 06:14 PM. |

Yeah I think I can get the headlight to work once everything is ready to be put back together. I couldn't believe they were still in-tact. Thank god!
Thanks bob! |

This sucks, I'm having trouble visualizing it though. If you were turning left how did she hit you with her passenger side?
Regardless, I wish you a speedy insurance process. Good luck. |

Bum deal man. Sorry that happened to you. Anytime an accident or incident takes place, it can be helpful for everyone to review what took place. I appreciate you sharing the circumstances.
Akic, this is a good reminder that with this recent snow on the ground and people still adjusting to winter driving, jack rabbit starts from dead stop and red lights are not a great choice. I learned a long time ago from riding motorcycles to take a moment and look both directions before proceeding across intersections. Situational awareness at ALL times is important. Even while sitting still at a red light, I'm constantly scanning mirrors and the traffic situation. Looking for pedestrians and bicyclists. The habit has carried over to my car driving too. Be safe out there and happy holidays to everyone. |

Nick, this sucks to see! I'm glad you're okay, though, and she wasn't going faster. Crazy she "spaced out" with a baby in the back.

This sucks, Nick. It looks like everything can be repaired but most importantly, you're ok. Here's hoping you get her repaired fast!

Kids are a huge distraction inside the car. Not to mention that being a parent can leave you sleep deprived and feeling a bit scattered at times.
No excuse though. You must always be vigilant when driving. Did it appear that she was braking when she hit you? I'm curious to know if she was on all seasons, studless or studded winter tires. |

She told me that her child was sleeping before and after the crash. She drifted into me going around 25-35 mph. I looked at her tires and they looked like pretty worn all seasons

The at-fault insurance company will try to push you to do this. I was told I had muscle spams too. Frickin' PAs don't know squat except how to prescribe drugs. I have several X-rays and MRIs that say there are bad discs and pinched nerves. Now I get to have Caudal Epidural Steroid Injections about every 5 months and pain meds when that wears off. In fact, I am getting another one on Friday. ![]() |

![]() Wow, just wow. ![]() Like tuners, Bob, results may vary. I agree with one aspect of his post though. Don't sign anything for any insurance company. BTW, I have a superb attorney if you need one. ![]() |

Not a good way to end the day either... Wife and I were rear ended on the way home to eagle river. F-250 with a good size light bar on the front against the rear end of a Toyota Camry.... We didn't stand a chance. We will see what the body shops and insurance say... Hoping we can get it fixed. Everyone is safe and that's what matters.

Now how did I know you would respond.
![]() You got that right Mike. I sat there and told that guy and he just kept on about it being spasms. No results from the Valium but the 4 doses of Morphine via IV helped. ![]() I am sure you'll make a great PA. I have no doubt. Just be sure to listen to your patients. ![]() |
