Default 2016 100 Acre Wood

Planning for the 2016 100AW is well under way. In case you didn't notice, we have moved it back a couple weeks to March 18-19 this year. http://www.100aw.org/

We are still the second rally on the Rally America National Championship series, so we expect 50 or so teams. Registration just opened and had 30 sign up already in the first weekend (22 were Subes). Several local teams will be running again this year, as well as teams from all over the U.S. and beyond.

Volunteer registration is also open and as always, we need lots of volunteers. You can work one day or both, but do plan on being there all day. If you think you'll need a motel room, do get that soon as the motels in Salem are already full. We ask that volunteers sign up online (link at the above website) and you'll need to register in person in Salem as well, to get your t-shirt, other goodies, and your work assignment. There is a awards party after the rally that all participants are invited to. Ham radio operators and medical volunteers are always especially needed.

How is the coverage for Ham radio? I am a Ham radio operator and have a mobile radio and can go 5w.
I am planning on just spectating but may consider working.

I guess I should clarify that. The Ham operators we need must have mobile radios with at least 25w, but preferably 50, plus a decent quarter-wave antenna. Handhelds are ok as an adjunct but can't reliably run anything at our rally with one.

Understood. I have a 50w amp I can run with my handheld along with a 1/4 wave magmount. Having never been to this rally, I may just spectate this year.

Hopefully you'll change your mind as radio operators are a big part of rally and we always need more. If you sign up online, we will provide a lot more info specific to radio than what I can post here.
