Pho 68 - Vietnamese, small but decent, next to Lee Lee's at Dobson and Warner.
Thai Rama - reliably good Thai food, Dobson and Chandler.
Los Taquitos - hole in the wall good Mexican food, 48th and Elliot.

I went to "Green restaurant" in Scottsdale today. Vegan place that had imitation meats. Had a chicken bowl and that **** tasted like real chicken and even the texture felt like chicken.
Really good.

If you haven't been to Rudy's BBQ I highly recommend it. Since it opened I must have gone 10 times just for lunch. It's just east of I-10 on Chandler Boulevard.

If you are willing to drive a little further east I really like Joe's Farm Grill on Higley and Ray. (in/near aggrotopia)

If you are willing to drive even farther east, try the Olive Mill on Combs and Rittenhouse. Their breakfast is the best, but lunch isn't bad either.

I forgot to mention China King, at Alma School and Ray. Great dim sum (Chinese brunch with lots of appetizers). Saturday and Sundays from about 10a-3p. Priced per plate, 2-4 items (like 3-4 egg rolls or 4 pot stickers) per plate, excellent prices and best dim sum I've found in the valley.

I've gone to the Royal Taj once or twice, before I acquired more food restrictions. It's at McClintock and Broadway. http://www.royal-taj.com/
I've not had Indian food across the pond, but I've had quite a bit in SF (and surrounding areas) that people who _have_ gone over to England say was quite good.
Royal Taj was defitenly adequate, but I never got to try enough to say if it was _good_.
I also went to ... ****, what's the name. It's in Ahwatukee, down Chandler Rd, well east of 48th. That was pretty good. I'll hunt down the name. After breakfast.

ETA - It's Star of India at 40th and Chandler Blvd. http://www.yelp.com/biz/star-of-india-phoenix I only did takeout there for dinner, so I can't comment on the buffet I think they have.

Mind you, both of these, it's been a few years since I've gone there. Royal Taj was always a little too spicy for me (I'm sadly a spice wimp), but I remember Star of India being okay on the spice level, and tasty.

Oh, and I'm told Al Hamra in Scottsdale is excellent. Haven't been there myself. I've also heard it's kind of pricey.
