We had an is250 yesterday with lots of electrical problems and had obviously been flooded. Found the words "water line" written above the doors. Made for a fun time of connecting to the immobilizer to try and get the car to start

After fighting with the insurance on getting it totaled they wouldn't total it. It sat outside for a month in that state before they had a insurance supervisor come out and look at it. He decided to still fix it. He ended up signing papers stating that any repair done on this car are his full responsibility and not that of the tech. I ended up repairing it and documenting every little thing. I have two copies of the file and the shop has two copies. CYA. It came out straight in the end. One frame rail replace and the other sectioned in at the correct line. It sat on the frame machine for three days getting it straightened out. 3mm isn't much wiggle room. After dealing with that car I keep a camera in my tool box ready to take pics.
CYA, CYA, CYA

Nice looking well done two tone paint job on this Titan, however...........

The rear brake rotor has been completley ground to nothing.......

The pads are completley gone and the caipler is just held on by the brake line, which hasnt snapped somehow....the bolts were completely severed off.......the caliper piston is fully pressed out.
The shoes you see are the E-brake shoes.....again no rotor left!

The caliper flopping around ground into the inside of the wheel.....so they decided to bring it in.....

^I would have loved to seen your face when you took the wheel off, went to grab the rotor, and it was just GONE.

See. That once before but it was all but one of the rotors. The guy finally brought it in when he couldn't stop at an intersection. He almost hit the building driving up to the shop. He drove it to the shop because he didn't want to pay a tie truck to bring it and put all those other people in danger.

I had a caliper bolt come off a while ago which caused my caliper to come into contact with the inside of my wheel. Luckily my wheels were small enough to prevent the caliper from going far enough out of wack to do any real damage and i replaced and re torqued the bolt about 1km after noticing it. Good thing i wasn't far away from home.

Wow.....especially wow considering how nice that truck looks on the outside. One would not be terribly suprised if this was a commuter car driven by a blonde or a hood rat, but I would not expect this from a externally/decently cared for truck. Shocking!

From looking at it, this vehicle struck me as belonging to someone who spent all their $ on how it looks/show doesnt spend/have any left for maintenence.
I am sure you know the type.

It had crazy ass stereo/nav, body lift, custom wheels, steprails, BF Goodrich KA/TO mud terrains, lots of chrome, bed cover, tint, cant see it in the pic well but it has also has a front skid plate and bull bar.
I am assuming they didnt put any of that on themselves so just those things I noticed add up fast.

Um, if the piston came out of the caliper, how did the truck go about...you know...stopping and such?

looks like the inside face of the caliper stopped the piston from falling out, and leaking fluid. so you would still have 3 wheels stopping.

When I was a poor broke college kid, had a 2000 f150 with ~250k mi. Someone pulled out in front of me one day and I locked it up. Pad shifted in the caliper on the front right. Wore funny, made racket. Long story short, I popped the pistons out after the pad wore through. Luckily I had been expecting it so I eased to a stop with the e-brake. Apparently that's what teh e-brake is actually for. But yea, I'll go ahead and guess ignorant college kid, or up and coming hip hop artist.

This thread is amazing! It makes me want to become an auto tech just to have great conversation pieces to bring home and tell everybody how stupid people are about their stuff. Ahaha. That Titan made me laugh, Their priorities are having a nice paint job and care next to nothing about their safety of them and others. ahaha

I pulled up to get a picture. The onramp was new and smooth. About a 200 more feet and it got rough. I was way past him before that.
