I recommended replacing 4 tires to a customer, two were at 1/32 one was showing cords, and the last was a mismatched cupped wrong way facing directional at 5/32.

She called her dad who responded "the belts showing are okay, you've got at least a few thousand miles to go"......

The pure idiocy of people astounds me

Then the tire fails on the Interstate at 70 mph and the dad's "astounded at his family's loss"

At that very moment, I would require a waiver from the customer stating "I know that this mechanic thinks that my car is not safe due to bad tires, but I am gonna drive it anyway. I will not hold this mechanic responsible when the tire fails on the road."

No excuses.

It is notated, signed and saved in the customers file that they knowingly declined the tires.

That seems like a legitimate question, unless they're transparent.

Sure I understood what she was really asking but it still amused me the fun you can have with English.

Junk yard find the mirror already painted the color of your car.
We had some insurance companies want a junk part put on the car. We did get the junk part. By the time we got it took that apart to paint it. Charged them for labor and materials. It would of been cheaper getting the factory part pre painted.

I don't work in a shop so I have no stories in that department but a while back my cousin and I spotted this guy on the freeway and we later uploaded it to Failblog. I can only imagine he eventually found his way to a shop, it's practically ready to cave-in on itself. It's no wonder why you guys see what you do in your shops.
