+1000. Yes, I traded an STi for this. No, I don't regret it one bit.

Tom - do you know if the rear shift bushing is the same? I have a brand new KB one just sitting in the garage that I never bothered to put on the STi.

Different dynos, different readings, I get that, I think what concerns me is that the differences are so big between the two, around 41 hp. I'm not hung up on horsepower but try to look at it from a practical standpoint. Is 137 or 178 going to get you past a tractor trailer on the interstate better.

The Mustang was pretty nice by the way...... just sayin.........

The 2012 Impreza's 148HP w/ CVT and AWD-weight passed plenty fine when merging on the highway...

In a lightweight car, the horsepower seems to feel greater than what it probably is.

I just traded my 08 forester xt sports in for a Scion FR-S last week. Yeah it may not have boost, and yadda yadda, but it still moves good.

I just happen to have an FXT RSB in my possession, and likely an FR-S coming my way. Perfect.

Tom,
Have you noticed on your car, when at a dead stop and you engage 1st gear the whole gearbox jerks in the tunnel for a second. Got some solid mounts on your drawing board to fix the problem?

I'm guessing someone posted some details about how vivid copycatted kartboy with shady shifters that broke a lot?

Ok cool, so it's not just me! I'd be interested in seeing a solution to this. Not sure if it hurts anything, but it is disconcerting.

I just want to know if I can borrow your rear end. I can't bear to take my car apart yet but want to get on with the product development. I'll make it worth your while...

Wouldn't solid mounts cause this problem, not fix it? Input shaft momentum being transmitted to the differential, being transmitted to the body of the car? At least that's what it feels like to me.

There was also a tech bulletin about this, fwiw

Quote:
BRZ MANUAL TRANSMISSION SOUNDS

You may notice, or customers may question, a "thump" or "thunk" sound intermittently when placing the new six-speed manual transmission into first or reverse while stopped. This is a characteristic of the transmission operation which occurs when any remaining input shaft rotation is brought to a quick stop by gear selection. If enough time is given for the shaft to stop turning on its own, then no thump will occur. No wear or damage is occurring as a result of this action. This sound may be more noticeable as the gear oil warms and gear selection is able to be accomplished with greater speed.
