OMGHi2U 05 Civic Maint Help

Hey guys dont want to seem like a dead-beat.
I need some a/c help and quick rotor help on my 05 Civic DX (usdm non-vtec )
1**a/c started blowing hot on high and squeaks and squeals. it did blow well until last week. ( i know jared they do this type of work at Sears lol, but i dont have 120 to hand over so willingly haha )
going on a short trip to new mexico for a family matter and really wouldnt like for my daughter to roast in the back. (not meant as a pity story just giving you a little feedback about myself) so looking for a recharge and possible if someone can look at it and listen to see if i need a new compressor.

2** brakes i need new rotors and pads, i did this on a 350z rear set up once about 2 years ago and havent had much hands-on since if someone has done the fronts of this can i get help/teacher. again i dont have much money other then supplies and i can buy you lunch or gas money for the trouble (not old enough to purchase liquor )
i have a starter mechanics set which i think will do the job nothing fancy. just need some help. im in central phoenix 27th and camelback. whenever your available will be great will be heading out the 20th weekend hopefully i have it done by then.

thanks guys

I can tell you that you most likely need a new compressor if it is making noise and blowing hot. If it was a loss of refrigerant then the compressor would not kick on at all, and it would blow hot. A compressor for that car will run you about $300 give or take $50 or so, just for the part. Plus another $20-40 for the refrigerant.

As for the brakes that is an easy job, I would say have the rotors turned if possible, that will save you a couple bucks. Then just grab a set of cheap pads, you can probably do a four wheel brake job for pretty cheap.

I live out west a ways if you need some help and can get it out this way. I have the tools to check the A/C and all that.

I dunno if your hot air is intermit or just goes hot afterwards this but in my 06 wrx. I was getting the squeek and occasional hot air, it ended up being the belt was so worn and cracked it was skipping off the compressor wheel. replaced belt and re-tensioned and a/c works perfect again.

It shouldn't be low on R134 if the compressor just went bad, so that won't do anything either way. And that shi.t is like $15-20 a can, so it would just be a waste.

Brakes are brakes, Drum aren't to bad. Your 2005 Civic shouldn't have drum brakes though IIRC, maybe the parking brake, but the front and rear should be disc.

Just let me know man, I will do what I can to help you out. I will be around most of the weekend, I just got back in town, so I'll just be hanging out at the house.

This could be the case as well. Hard to diagnose without seeing it though.

After work today i started up my ****-vic and the a/c (I think) made a terrible screeching sound like an old POS clunker. Although it did stop when I turned my a/c off and still makes sounds when I im shifting 1st to 2nd. Can I get some a/c help.

I bet your belt is loose or worn out. That's typically why you get the screeching.

It all depends. Some quiet down shortly after the compressor cycles. Others just keep slipping and squealing. I've had I happen both ways. Seriously though, inspect your belt and tension. It's a free test. If worn replace it. Again cheap test. Don't start with expensive stuff.
