Default PFC and Comander Tuning

I have a 1995 WRX with a TD05, ARC TMIC, 550 injectors, Apexi intake with hood vent opened, EBC set at 15PSI, Megan racing exhaust. How hard will it be to get a base tune with my PFC and Commander on this to run the car and not break or hurt anything.

POWERFC = No knock control. The OP asked specifically to "run the car and not break or hurt anything." Hense Robtune.

I have a rob tune Its good but I have a hybrid 2.2/2.5L on the stand and I want to learn how to use my PFC before I finish building that motor so thats what im working on. Because the Rob tune wont work with the new motor.

You can monitor it with the FC Commander and control it with a J&S....

The hardest part is finding someone who can use the software. Its a very basic tuning program so if you can convince a tuner to take a look at it he should be able to figure it out fairly quickly and set you up with a decent tune.

The factory map in the PFC is a very aggressive map with a lot of timing

Out of curiosity, what would be a decent price for a PFC and J&S combo? Are the EJ20G PFCs still holding their value well? I sold one with the commander a couple of years ago for close to $1k.

I beg to differ. My base map was very conservative with low timing and pig rich A/F ratios.

It's easy to get a base tune, but it's also tedious using the commander to do it. Like JDMFLCL said, you can monitor knock with the commander. You can even set a threshold so your CEL flashes at you. I have mine set to 20 count. You can also set the PFC to flash the CEL if you max out your injectors or your MAF sensor. I will say it much easier and faster to tune the PFC with datalogging software.

My v5/6 EJ207 PFC w/commander brand new ran me $985 shipped off of ebay.

Yea ive had the handheld and datalogit hooked up and the datalogit is much easier to use but i think the handheld is better to use when ur driving around simply for the fact its compact and u can easily read the sensors that u have set up

Default PFC & Datalogit

datalogit is the best for tune, you can make logs and then go back to check and is very user friendly

commander I use it mostly to monitor (very good for that), did tune with it but it is very unfriendly way to tune that way.
