Default Impreza parking brake adjustment

Anyone done theirs yet? I think mine has too much play at the handle, and i have looked in the service manual, it doesn't look hard. The reason i ask is mine is doing weird stuff, like when the car is cold there is a lot of play in the handle when the brake is released, but once it warms up after diving for a while all that extra play goes away.
Makes no sense to me as to why it would do that

Why would your brake handle be loose? That's something that happens to manual cars after 120,000 miles, not a practically new one. Take a picture of how far your brake goes up before it actually contacts the drum.

Wasn't there something in the manual about how to adjust it? Pretty sure there is.

I already know how to adjust/lube everything from the service manual.

My car has nearly 60k on it in 2.5 years, and i use my parking brake a lot, which is probably why it needs adjustment. It is supposed to be inspected every 30k iirc.

I'm confused by the play in the handle, it is about 1/8+" when cold and after driving a while it is 1/16ish or half of cold.
I guess it could of stretched enough over that time

Sounds like a bit of work? I imagine you have to take the center console apart? While the actual adjustment is probably quick? Just trying to imagine it...

Messed with the parking brake when I stripped the interior of my car which was quite a learning experience in itself seeing whats underneath all that plastic/carpet.

Yes, but I plan to lube all my caliper slides so just a bit more work when I do that. There are 6 lube points inside the drum and a few more outside, plus an adjustment for the shoes and the handle.

Pulling the console up takes about 20 seconds, I did it to install my amp and maybe my sub, can't remember.

Guess I remember it being more of a chore because I stripped everything else.

i'm not asking about the interior removal, i know how to do that.

i'm wondering if anyone else has adjusted it, and why mine is doing weird things.

guess i will just find out next month when i get a chance to tear into it.
