A Quick history on the car

i purchased my 2001 Imprea 2.5rs coupe from Highpoint NC in early 07 with about 42k on the clock with

Borla headers
Greddy Evo 2 Catback
Apexi Super AFC
COBB CAI
lightweight pulleys
b&m short shifter
K Sport coilovers
Samco hoses
random polished engine dress up
Cusco fsb
Greddy front lip
Rota Subzero 17x7
painted oem sideskirts
Sparco seats
Subaru carbon fiber dash trim
carbon fiber hood
carbon fiber trunk
JDM tail lights
clear corners
clear headlights

in the end December 2008 my car was hit by a city bus in orange on my way out of work (which i was somehow sued for later) the entire left side of my car was damaged and wrinkled and bent and scratched and whatever other word your like to choose

after that i had her back for under a month before she met an island in the road
then came a new set of ksport coilovers, new wheels (XXR) and another greddy lip

so shortly after that she started burning about 4 quarts of oil a month

so i brought her up to ECS Performance aiming for a wrx swap but stumbled upon an available 2.0 V7 STi motor so we went that route and bolted that to my 5speed which lasted for about 3 months before i grenaded second gear and after that the only obvious choice was the 6 speed swap

Direct Future plans

in the near future hopefully done before this summer hits full swing i set the goal that i want to hit 450whp

my V7 motor is unbuilt and ive been getting a lot of back talk about it but i have seen some cases where this power range should hold and im going to have faith in the motor as it has been great and problem free thus far

the new parts list list consists of

*edit*
most of this parts list i made up previously has been altered and some of the future things are now things so just wait and see

current interior state....

im not quite sure why exactly i decided to go this way but i decided i would gut the interior of the car. a cage isnt in the budget this year but will probably be next year depending on side work cash.

with the help of a friend the interior was out just about completely within a leisurely hour or 2

next came the tar and sound deadening removal

i spent about $30 on dry ice and got the 2 main panels under the seats covered ..... and let it rest on there for about the time it took us to eat a pizza and started to hear the cracking....

it did not seem to work as easily as the videos seemed online ... i have a video of this i took somewhere that i need to find and upload...... myself and boris took many swings and it just didnt seem to make a difference ..... finally in frustration i swung a pry bar at the sheet and chipped up a large corner ..... so we used the pry bars to scrape up the dry ice and it started coming up in no time .... the thicker stuff easier than the thinner layers ..... after we finished the two spots we begun to try this way on the sections that we did not use dry ice on and it seemed to work just as well so no more dry ice was used except to freeze chill our drinks lol

from here the next session was the next weekend afew more friends our trusty pry bars and a location my brother lent me so we could work into the night ...... my trunk had also been leaking water and the spare tire area was coated in a light surface rust ..... so this was sanded and treated and most of the last sound deadening material was removed and the areas were cleaned.....

side note i highly recommend the 3m adhesive remover ..... its a large spray can for 25 bucks but holy cr*p does this stuff work great ... just a little spray works wonders

as this portion of the project stands ..... i need to wire brush off the last little specs of sound deadening and address the super tar spots covering the factory holes in the body that i need to weld shut clean and paint the interior which i think im leaning towards painting a medium grey..... i still have power windows and door cards a dashboard headliner and sunroof and my front seat belts being that my harnesses need to be replaced and i need factory belts for the time being to go down the track since my harnesses are not up to spec..... the dashboard is going to get flocked and ill be looking into an aftermarket steering wheel....

the rough weight lost soo far is about 120-130lbs with one seat in the car (the L hood weighs a ton and will be changed back to carbon fiber soon)

yes and no lol never launches it but I did bang gears .... the 5 speed didn't last too long once the motor was in it so you do really need to baby it some bit.... mine blew half way through second gear like 5k RPMs and it just shattered the gear
