Thumbs up

I gotta give a big thumbs up for the gen4 borla header

perfect fit, no trouble at all installing them, except I dropped the stock ones onto my face when removing them, don't do that.

oh, and the SOUND, sooo good. I have a brospeed cat back which was nice, but with these new header, it purs, sounds like a really really quiet rally car now, the way a subaru should sound.

performance... hard to tell, it does pull a lot smoother now, after resetting the ecu, no "lag" just before 3k like I usually have, but the lag usually goes away for a while after i reset the ecu anyways, so we'll see. did i mention the sound?

purchased them from renick at iSR, (Pam) called them on the phone, no worries, $295shipped. 888-923-8201. It did take 1 day longer than expected, but there was a holiday in there messing things up.

two things about installing them; i removed the cat-section with the oem headers, disconnected the o2 sensors, very easy, i recommend it. pay attention to how the front sensor clips together, that is all. I bolted the cat section to the new header, then I loosly hung the cat section back on the hanger and fitted the header to the block, then slowly worked all the bolts connecting the 3 pieces, easy as can be.

Borla = MUCH SUCK!!

They bite big time. I bought some headers that Borla said would fit ANY 2.5 engine.

(I live 2 miles away from Borla Industries, and when I went there a year ago, they said they had made some for the Forester)

Anyway, long story short, they didn't fit. One pipe needed to be bent about 1/2" in order to clear my oil cooler (Forester automatics have oil coolers from the factory.)

I called Borla, and left messages. They never returned my calls. I finally reached someone who said, "We don't have any for the Foresters, and we aren't going to make any."
I went over to Borla, and they told me in no uncertain terms that, "We NEVER do custom work, and modifying the headers in any way will void the warranty". Their customer service SUCKS!!

So much for supporting a local industry. Good thing one of the local Subaru dealer service reps knows how to install and mod these things. They are now on my car.

BORLA SUCKS !!

I installed them a few months ago. Personally, I like them. I did lose a bit on the low end, but nothing drastic. Top end pulls better than it ever did before.

The sound is amazing. Deep, rumbly, and you can feel it!

a follow up on the CEL. after about two or three weeks of the CEL being on (and me not doing anything about it) it turned itself off... and hasn't come back (knock on wood).

and the sound is great, did i mention that? i drive with the windows down now, all the time.

Default install

Installed like a champ on MY 02RS. It took me like 30min to lift up the car and install them. No fitment issue, it is just tip-top
