Default Can running A/C with low charge damage it

The A/C still blows cold, but you can hear that it needs a recharge. Would running it like this damage it?

If the pressure becomes too low, there is a pressure switch that will shut the system down to protect the compressor.

Ditto ... It'll just make the compressor work harder then it needs to.

I'm gonna get it evac'd as I want to get any air/moisture out of the system.

As long as the system was never opened and has at least any positive pressure in it, it won't have air or moisture in it. Air/moisture will not enter a pressurized system. Its only when a system has been completely vented and opened that you really need to worry about that.
