It's the same basic architecture and components as the CLA45 that they will sell here I can't imagine it would cost much to offer both in the US; disappointing. I think a number of STI/WRX, Evo, Speed 3 owners with the means would buy one.

I'd prefer an RS4 avant but this would be close and cheaper so I'd happily rock a benz hot hatch.

I sent MBUSA an email asking them to reconsider selling the A45 for whatever it's worth. I encourage anyone else interested to do so as well.

Basically the exact specs I wish for the next gen STI. This would definitely be on my short list of cars to replace my WRX.

That was the most boring 350hp drag race I've ever seen.

I'm pretty sure that no Evo or STI owner would want that wing if actually in the market for one of these.

I want. Damn, when I asked, many months ago about Subaru doing an AWD system that can just use the front wheels for normal driving (for MPG reasons) I was scoffed at. Merc did it and we can't buy the f'in thing.

Got damn Subaru. Make us a hatch version of the new car you twits!

Horrid exhaust note. Blasphemous for an MB.

Very nice car indeed. When it gets here, this would be a $40k to $55k car.

I still don't know why they can't offer both the CLA and A class AMG's in the U.S.

It's probably just because they want to present a certain image in the US and keep it more upscale. In Europe, it's not that big of a deal when they have Benzes as taxis, which blew my mind the first time I went to Europe ten years ago. So they probably don't want Benzes at that price point (relative to what their lineup costs in the US) to keep it more of a premium brand. It's probably also why they don't offer the 3.5-liter in some of their US-spec higher-end models, even though the overseas models get them. I think at the time, my dad definitely would have been open to a CLS350 (which they have outside of the US), but he didn't want a V-8.

Oh well, MB, I'll just have to watch for the next year or two for a used CTS-V wagon with manual and recaros.

Now if it only had AWD and got better than 15mpg combined.

If you knew you could get it in, then you wouldn't go would you And if you could buy a car like this, as a finished package, for evo and sti prices, then AMG would have priced this car a lot differently. I can't wait to see track times for this thing, it sounds like it's a beast. Once car guys get their hands on these and put slicks/do race alignments, this could be almost GTR fast on smaller tracks. How much does this thing weigh?

Is it just me, but I think the A45 AMG looks goofy and isn't Mercedes like. It looks like one of those C-class front end conversion on a Civic hatch... just doesn't look right

As luxury premium compacts, BMW and Audi pulls it off correctly.

THe CLA sedan and hatch are just so darned UGLY. I cannot get over them. They look like a cupcake that was taken out of the oven too soon and is half baked. Sure they are incredible on the inside but the outside is just disgusting.
