nope. well, not accurately.

It all depends on production volume which is what we are trying to figure out by gauging interest.

I am trying to get Micah to do 40 sets, with me dedicated on 10 sets immediately with cash up front to help offset his out of pocket.

We need a couple more shops that want to play ball on this to help out as well.

He's working that right now, and those shops are watching to see feedback from the community at large.

Ok. Provided the price is right I'd be in for a set. I'm still on the fence about rods but I may do them. Just need a push in the right direction.

Special pricing on these your tgv delete and shiny piston you posted on Facebook?

Can you make this rods with 300M material if that would make it stronger and lighter?

I like this idea. There isn't much between eagle/manley/bc etc and cosworth/carrillo.

If these were already out I would have gone this route over Manley TT. I definitly think they will sell well.

I do have 300M rods but as stated, they come with some added cost (once again can't post in here). I also have upgraded hardware options too...but you already get L19 bolts with these.

If you need something custom, let me know. I already have various rods (lengths, ratings, etc) that may fit your needs.

As for the pistons on Facebook, those are an older 4" bore design and is still on a full round forging. New ones are all internally strutted, shorter wrist pin, tweaked dish, etc.

Glad to see the interest on them. From when we say go, we should have the first rods going out to customers in roughly 10-11 weeks. I'll probably get them in waves as they're built in sets of 10 as that is how the tooling is set up.

As for cost, retail should be just a little bit over the Manley Turbo Tuff's but well under the Carrillo/Cosworth costs. So now you have a window but no actual price to not cause trouble.

what would you say the strongest rods available are not including weight? carillo/pauter? if there was anything beefier id buy them.

That's a tough call. I've only had one rod issue and that was a Pauter that necked at the neck of the big end on a high revving application. It was years ago when I still ran Pauter. I'd gone away from them and from Crower and Oliver as they treat you like a cookie cutter and it seems as though they simply change the cut depth and where they put the holes

The beefiest rod (note you'll wear your bearings much more quickly and increase stress on your crank!) I believe is the specials made by PAR (from 4340) that they make on special order for Rigoli. They added more material instead of using a better material or improved design.

Also note the increased stress (flexure) on the crank can be quite detrimental on a billet crank more so than a forged.

But now we're off topic.

When/If I have another motor build rods different and new rod options would be of interest.

well with that being said....say you were in the 700-850 whp area. which would you rather have? beefier rods or a beefy rod but light also? seems to me it would be safer to have an ultra beefy but heavy rod and just have to deal with shorter engine life span? im running turbo tuffs now and no issues yet.

Lighter is better. Beefy doesn't necessarily mean strong but it does always mean increased bearing wear, load on the crankshaft and on the rod itself.

More minor but still affected by the added weight; increased side loading on the cylinder walls, skirt and rings.

It all depends on your budget. These 4340 rods would be a ticket for that power range. I however would always suggest the lighter but more costly option of +2mm 300M rods and custom pistons with a DLC coated 9310 tool steel pin. But these take time and more money.

Well displacement wise as long as I can stick with my 2.5 blocks and the 2.5 crank I have stocked up lol the rest is up for choice. I'm always down for new options. And waiting for parts is not an issue.

That's a really nice looking rod, is it a US forging or over the pond? I assume it's hard to hit that price point on US soil, not knocking overseas stuff... My crank from Turkey is totally badass!

Thanks

Id get in contact with AREA1320....they where vendors on here up until March, till the owner moved the shop and go married. They are now in a new shop and should be back on NASIOC as a vendor in a few weeks. They have done dozens of motor builds and are always looking to save the customer money on quality parts.

Well the first 20 sets are in production. I have a feeling I'll be re-ordering the next 20 sets in a hurry (fingers crossed).
