Can't state prices in this thread. Price is quite reasonable for the market of rods that it's up against; I-beams and rods rated for big power.

ETA is about 6-8 weeks right now.

Well as stated, the first batch is already given the green light. I'll hopefully have the second batch of 20 sets starting in a few weeks...there may be GB starting as delivery gets closer

I also have 10 sets of the 300M long rods on order to keep lead time and cost down for the guys running them.

I'm a long ways out from spending anything, but doing research... how would these stack up against Carillo Pro-As? None of the power goals I have should theoretically be beyond 400, but I'd rather pay once to have something I never have to worry about again.

Set up a group buy or pre-pay to secure rods?

If I remember correctly the reason I was told being that drive lines are not a back and fourth motion like pistons moving in a engine, a rate of acceleration doesn't affect it. However with a motor the rate of acceleration can affect the rotating parts of an engine, like shearing a wrist pin, I doubt that many motors would like a acceleration from 1,000 to 10,000 RPMs in less than a second (as an example). So since horsepower is a calculation of torque applied over time, or torque and acceleration, that is why they label engine parts in horse power and drive line parts in torque. At least that's how it was explained to me.

Honestly, if you're going for a lightweight rod for that power goal, I have a 300M set that weighs in at 490 grams. The rods were originally done for a serious autocrosser. They aren't a stocked part however. I just don't think they'd have the volume in sales for it.

Not gonna happen. I have shops that I'm looking to carry the rods, so I can't do that, sorry.

would love to see a GB for these in a +4mm variety and a 102mm piston to go with it
looking at doing a longrod motor over the winter.

Ok, well I have a few going on now. Everyone seems to only want my 300M rods for this application as they are serious builds. Shoot me a PM and we can get some discussion going about what you're building the car for.

Interesting, was kind of curious how light they could be gotten.

I emphasize again I'm not even thinking of buying parts for at least a year or two, so I'm not going to waste your time with PMs unless you want... and this is kind of OT but what the heck. I'm just in the mindset in speccing things out with a bit of a fudge factor on power rating (build for 600ish hp, run less) known provenance and QC, and then as light as practical. Looking at a 2.1 stroker for a DD doing about 12k miles a year in a place that gets winter; not a drag car, not a dedicated autocross machine (maybe that and track days, but let's be serious about primary purpose, you know?) just a hot street car that I get built and tuned to a safe initial point and then don't open the engine for at least 5 years. Possibly I shouldn't be thinking built motor at all... but I also would like it at a state where I won't be thinking "god, I wish I had an STI or Evo" instead in 2-3 years.

Honestly, if it's a street car just to beat around at 600whp, I'd suggest the rod discussed in this thread, despite it being built to take more.
Lots want a custom 300M rod but the cost isn't cheap and for a lot of the applications (like a street car) it's overkill.

Miscommunication; I was saying more like building it for 600whp and running at around 400whp on the high side. That doesn't make the rod in this thread seem unappealing, mind; I mean I know I don't need 300M rods.

I will not be carrying +2mm directly but one of the shops carrying the rods is/will be as part of a kit.

I will be stocking +4 but only in 300M (for now at least). The actual sales for guys going destroked are guys looking (or are doing and found failure in another component/company) to do some serious work and they have ALL asked for the 300M rod upgrade. So as of now, I see no need to carry the 4340 +4 rod.

Still sorting out the distribution/pricing with some shops that are going to stock them. Final price won't be released just yet but I promise they'll be an affordable I-beam option.

You'll be completely fine. I have one final tester with the new forged batch that I may just see a failure with. It's a stroked GTX4294R and it MIGHT be getting a the bottle too. He's looking for 1150-1200 at the wheels.

Wow 1150-1200 whp is a lot. What piston is he using for that amount of power? What's the piston weight? Is that a 79mm cranks he is using or a 75mm?

Thanks for the reply. After speaking with you on the phone a couple months ago I decided the +4 300m was not needed for my goals, but these in a +2 should do nicely. I will eagerly await more info on price and distribution.

I have a suspicion which 1150-1200 whp car you are talking about too

I did say 'stroked' and as for everything else, no comment

If you are referring to the Honey Badger setup, you need to go through Turn In Concepts for them.

Are these pistons you folks are hinting at of the sort used by a certain F1 team for a few years and subsequently banned by FIA in the last decade or so? Because I am tremendously excited to see some new semi-affordable composite materials technology making its way directly from R&D into the broader performance world (and skipping implementation in regular vehicles...god knows it takes forever for car companies to adopt even amazing tech like this). I would definitely be interested in pairing these with the new rods in here when everything comes out. Definitely waiting to do a build until I hear more.

Dammit Micah - how much longer on these rods? I have immediate need for two sets, and possibly a third.
