Question r160 to v7 sti hub?

I have a set of v7 sti hubs with the brembo's (5x100), and wanted to install them on a 02 wrx. I Don't have the cash to do the whole enjine & tranny swap, but I plan to in the future.

Is there an axle out there that mates up with the r160, then has the bigger spindles to accomidate the sti hub? So a 5x100 wrx hub to a sti 5x100 hub. Any chance?

Well the axles are different length and stronger on the sti's, the sti has a bigger transmission. Therefore you would have to swap the whole tranny if you wanted v7 sti axles. Its a whole package deal

He's talking about the rear diff, not the transmission right now.

If you want to use the STi hubs, you are going to need to use the STi axles.

If you want to use the STi axles, you are going to need to use the STi R180 rear diff.

I haven't seen any way to use the STi hubs and STi axles with an R160, but there is a way to use the WRX hubs and WRX axles with an R180.

So, if you really want to use those Brembos, you will need to wait until you get an R180, and then an 02-07 WRX auto driveshaft to mate it with your 5MT.

If want to use the Brembos up front, then you will have to go the 6MT route, as stated above.

You have a 3.54 final drive in the 5MT. Very easy to find an R180 with the same final drive. IIRC, the 3.54 R180 exists from 2006 forward.

Contact Jacob at coolblue05 here on NASIOC and he can set you up.

You can use the V7 axles you already have.

When/if you do the 6MT swap, you will have to match the 6MT final drive to your R180 final drive you already have. You keep the R180

And then a 6MT driveshaft to match the R180 with the 6MT

Again, contact Jacob.
