Wicked Big Meet Stands Fast as the #1 Subaru Event in the Country

Wicked Big Meet, the largest all-Subaru festival in America, continues growth for its 7th year!

Boston, MA (June 13, 2012) -- (SubieEvents, LLC) - Subaru enthusiasts from across the US flocked to Stafford Motor Speedway for the 7th annual Wicked Big Meet presented by Subaru of New England, June 10th. Wicked Big Meet is America's largest Subaru festival with nearly 2900 enthusiasts and 1600 cars in attendance, an increase of 300 cars from last year. The record car and enthusiast numbers make Wicked Big Meet the Largest Subaru Enthusiast Festival in America. Parked together this represents a full 7 acres of cars.

Wicked Big Meet 2012 was supported by over 50 Subaru-centric sponsors from all four corners of the country. Presenting sponsor, Subaru of New England, touted a complete lineup of 2012 and 2013 Subarus, including the new BRZ. Ken Scanzio of Subaru of New England stated, "We're happy to be able to support the Subaru enthusiast community as it's the community that shares the same passion for the brand that we do. Subaru of New England looks forward to WBM 2013."

As a flagship event for Subaru performance shops, Wicked Big Meet is pivotal means to create new relationships with Subaru owners and an annual reunion with existing customers. Many sponsors focused on displaying newly designed products while others brought parts by the pallet load to sell to attendees. Paul Scott of ECS Performance said, "Wicked Big Meet is hands down the most important event of the year for us and our customers. We were overwhelmed for hours by the huge crowd of enthusiasts that we got to engage with and learn from. We can't wait to see what 2013 brings."

This was the second year WBM was based at Stafford Motor Speedway, in Stafford Springs, CT. The popularity of last year's inclusion of a race car ride-along program led to the creation of a participant driven HPDE hosted by NASA Northeast. Participating drivers boosted their skills through performance driving instruction, two sessions of track-driving with an instructor, and private coaching between sessions.

A highly anticipated rally diving demo by Robert Champion, Ryan Wilcox, and Jamie Beliveau gave the huge crowd of attendees added entertainment as the three took turns sliding cars around one of Stafford Motor Speedway's gravel parking lots. In the days prior to WBM, an opportunity to drive Robert Champion's ECS Performance Rallycross WRX was raffled and gave one lucky winner first-hand experience driving a fully prepared race car.

A huge car show, an exhaust competition, the Car Smash to benefit Scoobies for Boobies (a charity to eradicate Breast Cancer), and other activities occupied and entertained Subaru lovers throughout the day. Many said that there were so many cars onsite that they could barely make their way through all of them.

This July, SubieEvents turns its focus to The Big Northwest Subaru Meet, July 14th at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington and the infamous Subiefest, October 6th at Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, CA. The events feature similar elements to Wicked Big Meet but also feature an All-Subaru Auto-X competition.
