Default Help me ID this crud on my wheels

Rota sub zeros, each wheel has an accumulation on the lip near the spokes. I'm assuming they are clear coated since the spokes are painted.

Is this the clear coat coming off, or should this stuff be removable?

what is that?? Ever try using a clar bar just to see if it takes it off? I've also heard of people sanding down the lip part of the rim and repolishing to a bright finish

Do you have any metal polish? If so, rub some into a small area as if to polish it. If the polish begins to turn black the lip is uncoated.

It looks like corrosion/oxidation and may need to be sanded down as dumpster stated or heavily polished. Report back once you find out if its coated or not and we can proceed from there.

Oxidation, there is no cure, have to refinish the lips.

Could just be some stuck on dirt or a stain of some sort. Kind of looks like a little oxidation and in the case that it is you'd probably have to refinish.

Try some mothers polish.. and a cloth should take it off. If not then try to sand it with some 800 grit then some 1500 grit followed by mothers. Should take it off.

tried some metal polish, nothing came off on the rag so it looks like they are clear coated. I think i'll try wet sanding and compound, if that doesnt get it looks like ill be refinishing at some point
