Default Formal Introduction plus STI vs EVO

Well I have been lurking around here for a bit now. Usually I am a forum whore, but it seems those days have slowed down for me.

Anywho, name is Gil and I'm stationed at Lackland AFB (USAF).
I've been here for five years and I am about to PCS to Germany next month! haha

This is my first Subie ever! 2011 WRX STI WRB limited, now Stage 2.
Funny thing is...I came from a 2010 Lancer Evolution X (which is a great car) Stage 2. I decided to give Subaru a shot.

First hand comparison.

Performance
They are very close...verrrrrrrrrry close in terms of performance.
I would have to give the Evo the veryyyy slight edge in top end power.
But in low-end torque, the STI hands down.
In all honesty...I don't know which car would win...my old Evo X or my STI.

Interior
STI fits my taste, even thought the Evo X has Recaro seats, the STI's bucket seats seemed to serve a shorter person (5'5) better.
I don't look like a little kid as much driving it, lol.
The STI has better trunk space as well, The Evo may as well not even have one...lol
And the all black interior (my fav color) just sets it off.

Driveability
Right from the start..shifting is easier and more smooth in the STI, easy pick.
The Evo had rougher shifts and the tranny and clutch don't seem as solid.
When it comes to launching the STI is the choice IMO. Throw the two-step launch control on it as well...and it's magic! No burnt clutch
I didn't have much trouble launching this bad boy at the track averaging 1.8's (still learning)
The Evo with factory two-step..was a bitch to launch...atleast for me. and boy did I smell that clutch alooottttt.
As far as normal Daily driving goes..the factory suspension from the STI is a little bouncier than the factory Evo's suspension. Not too much if an issue. I don't do any sort of Auto X so I can't go into depth with suspension stuff.

Community
This is a funny one. Coming from the Evo world, about 50% of the guys were friendly. The others would want to race you. Some of them seemed like docuhes as well.
Subaru on the other hand...super friendly peeps. I get the nod, waves all the time. Heck I was stopped at a light and this STI was next to me...he rolled down his window and asked if I was on the forums...lol. Good stuff.
Super nice community no doubt.

Verdict
Drum roll.........
Even though I am a die-hard Evo fan, I give Subaru it's props.
Well made machine, that's often under-looked, and under estimated.
These beast are soooo close that if I had to pick...it would be because of the subaru's trunk...lol. It's a shame you cant fit much in the evo plus the seats don't fold down. I need that trunk! haha
Both cars are sexy, both are fast!

Now for a couple of pics.

I just started doing some research about STI vs Evo MR. I've currently got a WRX, but I'd like to upgrade.

Is it true that the only 6-speed option for the Evos is a paddle shifter?!?

True. I've driven all three cars.

1. WRX- best value
2. Sti- best over all
3. Evo- best performance

All three cars are awesome and I would be fine owning any of them
