Here's one of my problems with the NBA...

If the players are going to hold the league in a lock-out to earn higher over-all salaries for all of the players, then no player in the league should be allowed to take less money than their market value just to play with a particular team that they want to play for, or to chase a championship.

For example: The miami heat could not afford Bosh, Wade, Bron all max deals (although pretty close)... so one of them takes a small cut in pay to make it work. Ray Allen would not be able to join the heat under normal circumstances this year, but he's willing to take less money than his market value to join them.

This is exactly the kind of thing that throws off the competitive balance of the league, which is the exact reason why we only played 60 games last year instead of 82. Half of the things that owners tried to negotiate were designed to restore competitive balance for the small market teams.

This is useless if the players are taking less money to go to the larger markets anyway. If the NBPA is going to hold out on the season so those mid-level and low-level guys get more money... they should hold their superstars to a higher standard, and require them to take the largest deal offered to them.

Is it 1997-1998?

I just read the following line: Highly sought-after unrestricted free agent big man Marcus Camby

I don't have the words, especially since my Knicks are after him.... again. Ummmm...he had one half-decent year (12pts and 11reb) for the Knicks 11 years ago. The hell is wrong with the Knicks.

Report: Green Will Return To Celtics

What looked like it might be a complete rebuilding job for the Boston Celtics in January is turning out to be more of a refurbishing effort by the somewhat surprising Eastern Conference finalists.

They are poised to keep yet another significant piece in place with the news that Jeff Green has a deal in place that will keep him in green and white, according to a report from ESPNBoston.com.....

Looks like Dwight to Nets is taking shape. I would love for the Bulls to join that mess to get Marshon Brooks.

All the lock-out was about was getting the owners more money, they can care less about competitive balance.

I actually like Ammo, I hope he makes it back. I read he was playing with confidence in Russia (I know, terrible competition there).

Oh I actually do like Adam Morrison. Heck, in the rare times I play NBA 2k??, I always trade for him to be my backup SF.

I just thought he's completely out of the league already, so you can imagine my surprise when I heard his name on ESPN last night!

The heat are too good now. They have ray Allen and rashard Lewis. But they might trade haslem.
An if Brooklyn gets Howard and his back is in good shape, I'm betting that these two team are going deep into the playoff.

Interesting read.

Quote:
It really comes down to Steve wanting to be as close to his children as possible. It's an absolute bonus that he can compete for a ring and the money he'll be able to earn [roughly $27 million over the next three seasons] at his age. At the end of the day, if Phoenix would have offered him $10 million over three years, he would have stayed in Phoenix. One hundred percent.
That's right cheapo Sarver. You could have kept Nash for a measly $3.3 mil per year. No wonder you are viewed as the cheapest owner.

And exactly like I said, the trade was made over compassion for Nash and not a basketball decision. Stupid Suns and stupid Sarver.

No way they weren't willing to pay him. I think this is a class move by the organization in a situation where Nash wanted to leave to play for a championship but wasn't willing to look like a dick in the media like every other player in the NBA doing the same. The Suns honored his request because Nash is an otherwise classy guy himself, and gave a lot to that franchise. That's my opinion.

Agreed. Plus they probably knew it was there chance to get something for the future...which is better than nothing.

Kobe thinks this Olympic team could beat the dream team. Wow.

http://olympics.yardbarker.com/blog/...video/11195608

I don't even have the words. Let's do a quick side by side, shall we?

guards (projected starter for 2012 team):
Magic Johnson vs. Westbrook. Adv Magic
Jordan vs. Bryant. adv Jordan

Forwards:
Bird vs. LeBron - adv LeBron
Malone vs. Anthony/Bosh. Adv Malone

Center
Robinson vs. Tyson Chandler. adv Robinson by a mile

The only weak spot on the 1992 team was Chris Mullin. I still have no idea how he got there.

Chris Mullin was the token white guy like Kevin Love! no wait I forgot about Bird... hmm... agreed how did he get on the dream team?

Ray Allen and Richard Lewis are gonna be reunited in South beach... things might be more interesting if they went to OKC instead? Man the Heat are looking hard to beat this upcoming season

The Heat will trade Haslem the day it snows six feet in Miami.

Hell, for me that's grounds to stop watching them.
