Or what if the biker wiped out and died? I bet the WRX driver would've been charged in some manner. He was keeping a good distance though. I'm just being annoying

That was awesome! Props for catching him. This reminds me of a thread a while back where a guy in a Legacy GT had an in car camera that caught a truck running into him in a median turn in.

Negative ghost rider. If I drive the dragon in my car at 100%, it would be slower that my 50% on my sport bike. My subaru will not, and could not, with any amount of modifications out brake or out turn my sport bike. The sport bike weighs 400lbs, the car weighs over 3k pounds. I've never had a car that could come anywhere close to keeping up with me at the dragon (z06, srt10 viper, gt2rs, lotus exige, etc), and I've never come close to riding at 100% on the street. I'm also riding a liter bike, which is not as fast in the twisties as a 600. You couldn't catch me on that road if I were on a cbr 250.

Oh, and that was not a twistie road.

This is interesting. I also own a CBR, but have never really raced a car. Just never seemed fun ... with the whole power to weight ratio (at least in a straight line). So I can't speak from experience. I'm pretty slow and cautious on the open road (had a bad accident once when an old lady pulled out in front of me) and save the speed for track days.

However, I think Top Gear had an episode that raced a Ducati (I believe either a 1099 or 1199) against a BMW M3 on their track to try and answer this same question. Each driver was an experienced professional racer. In their experiment, the motorcycle won, but only by a narrow margin (few seconds). The motorcycle had the advantage in the straights and the M3 in the corner. They raced each seprately timed and then showed you a video that superimposed each rider/drivers lap. It was pretty cool.

That guy on the bike was a total d*** for the hit and run. I half thought that you were going to drive up and tap his back tire and tip him over then he finally pulled over. I also fell out of my chair laughing when you showed him that the whole thing was on film. That was so awesome.

The track was wet, the bike was completely stock... meaning stock tires (stock tires are very rarely all that impressive). A 600 is faster in the turns that a liter bike, and would still be faster than the gtr in the straights. I stick by my statement.

The recorded fastest lap that I could find on a stock bike at that track is a 1:31... 10 seconds faster than the gtr time in that video.

Some dude by the name Adrian Martin turned a 1:41 on a Yamaha TZ250 at that track. That's the same time as the gtr in the video.

That isn't a race bike. That was a production bike, just like it would be off of the showroom floor. Also, it is a 1098s, the bad boy is the 1098r (it makes 20 more hp than the s, and weighs less).

My Honda made more HP completely stock that that ducati makes.

The tires on that bike are Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro (which are street legal tires). They get greasy feeling at very high temps that are commonly reached when pushing them hard on a track. Tires rarely ever reach temps anywhere close to the temps they would at a track. Street tires are meant to heat up quickly and accept lots of heat cycles. Track tires are made to work well at high temps and suck at low temps. Between sessions, tire warmers are used to keep them up to temp so you don't eat crap on your first lap back out on the track. There is no comparison between a track tire and a street tire.

Here are some car lap records for that track: http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/ca...l_circuit.html
Here are some motorcycle lap records for that track: http://www.ngroadracing.org/circuits/cadwell_park.htm

I'm not going to argue anymore on the internet. I know that some people will never look at all of the facts and you can never "win". I just wanted to try to educate some people, but it's just impossible. If anyone has a question they would like my opinion on, feel free to ask, otherwise I'm backing out so this thread can get back on topic.

Preach it brotha, anyone who thinks a RU could out brake a bike is clearly never riden a super sport bike. I live 2 hours from the dragon, ride it many times during the summer along with the snake. When you get behind a Porsche at the dragon with a guy in it with a helment on and a go pro who is clearly there for fun you still get bored riding behind him.

top gear also raced a car vs bike...

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...op-gear-track/

Quote:
The much anticipated bike versus car showdown show on Top Gear on BBC2 last night left one important question unanswered… just how fast around the track was the BMW S1000RR?

MCN was there on the day of the filming back in October and we can confirm the BMW superbike was less than a second slower than the mental Ariel Atom V8; a time that makes the BMW the second fastest vehicle around the track ever.
I believe this to be accurate bc you can not compare a sport bike like a CBR600RR or R6, R1 vs an STi or WRX i am sorry they are just not equals. Maybe a CBR600RR vs a prsche GT3 or something.... Equal car and bike will not be the same a car has 4 tires and can corner flat without having to worry about leaning, brake harder, and accelerate faster out of a corner. A race car should put down a better time than a similar race bike. Case in point WSB best lap time around monza is a minute forty and F1 is faster by 20 seconds... I know its not Moto gp but the diff is not 20 seconds haha. I love bikes and rode mine hard but knew some cars were just plain faster.

and its all about the operator anyway put Valentino Rossi on a ninja 250 and me in a high power powered sports car with no traction control and he could probably stick with me if not pass me

TOP GEAR - ATOM V8 500CV (italiano) HD - YouTube
Dangit, I said I was going to stop... That is one of the quickest cars for that type of track, and that bike is stock as a box of rocks, just as it rolled off of the showroom floor (tires and all). Street tires for motorcycles are not designed to be pushed like that on a track, the tires on the atom are.

I guess what I am really wanting to say is... go to any road such as the dragon, and I can pick out a dozen of the bikes/riders there that can outrun any car there. Between the two vehicles in the original post of this thread, there is no way that that subaru could catch that 600rr if the person on the 600rr had decent riding ability.

oh def not that cbr600rr is a race replica bike haha he should have walked him i could hit 150 on my r6 with ease and dive into turns without fear of boiling my brake fluid braking on the way in

I used to run Palomar Mtn on my 06 R1 all deck out -1,+2 gearing, bazzaz zafm, dunlop 211's, suspension revalved, ohlins steering dampner. I'm gonna be modest but I was pretty damn fast, there was a guy with a supercharged 2.0 ariel atom and he would walk over just about everybody in the downhill... his midcorner braking with the 2 extra wheels sealed the deal. Uphill however, weight to power ratio was a bigger part of the equation and it seemed like a back and forth battle. Nonetheless, the Ariel Atom is a piece that i'd love to own!

It's a 2006 WRX Limited, FP 18g, 6spd, Hayward and Scott downpipe and midpipe with a Borla Hush. Road tuned by Ed from EQ tuning.

I bought it last spring:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2130208

Only autox it in SM class and do track days with it. My DD is a 98 Pathfinder
