Default oil change at 7,500 question

so i had my first oil change at around 3000/3,500 miles (can't remember which), the sticker subaru put on my car says i don't need my next oil change until 10,756 miles or somewhere around there. i just received an e-mail from subaru stating that they estimated my mileage being around 7,500 and that it was time for another oil change just by a time measurement and they were pretty accurate, i was somewhere around 7,300 when i got their e-mail. my question is should i be waiting to get my oil change until my stick says because of the mileage or should i be getting another oil change at 7,500 because subaru sent me the e-mail?

Maybe that email was generated without knowing you had it done at around 3,500 miles. It's up to you I would just call the dealer that did it and confirm which is accurate. I plan on doing changes at 3k intervals. It is a little excessive but I don't plan on driving it that much so it isn't that often.

Just change it between 4500-7000 miles. Keep an eye on the level, these cars like to burn oil. I change mine around 5k. If your using that energy efficient oil crap, I wouldn't go more than 5k, that stuff breaks down too easy.

There are mileage and time based recommendations for changing oil. Oil will absorb moisture and other things from the air, which leads to the time based. Most people I know will change the oil strictly based on mileage, unless the car sits for years at a time.

The email could have been generated since it was a certain amount of time since your last oil change.

i'm assuming it was just a time generated e-mail even with how accurate it was. my car is a dd so it's not like it's just sitting around. with the synthetic oil from subaru they say each oil change typically is done after every 7,500 miles right?

That's exactly what it is, briguy84. A time generated e-mail. I had my dealership change my oil at 3700 miles. They sent me an e-mail saying it's time for my 7500 mile change. The service area doesn't always communicate with the other areas and vice versa. Just keep an eye on the oil you have and make sure it's at the correct level on the dipstick. You're fine for at least a couple thousand more miles.

NEVER rely on email notices about maintenance as anything more than a reminder for you to check your personal notes on the matter. I get them every day and twice on sunday and they all go in the ****can immediately. They are as accurate as your mother's advice to stop cracking your knuckles or you will get arthritis.
