Recently, I upgraded the suspension on my bug eye sedan. I threw on some '05 STI struts (modded to fit '02 knuckle), STI spec Swift Sport springs, COBB front & rear sways, and Kartboy (f) / Whiteline (r) end links. Group N front top hats, OEM '04 rear top hats. Since installing this setup, I have honestly been on the fence on whether or not it was worth it, mainly due to the harsh/bounciness of the ride on my daily commute (roads/freeways in Houston are terrible). There were some bobble-head sections that just felt like your spine was being compressed over & over.
Since installing the cowl stays, MUCH of the comfort has returned to my car! They are forcing the stiffer front springs to do the work, rather than transferring the energy up into the body. I really couldn't be happier with these things. Install was fairly easy, took about 2 hours in the dark w/ a drop light in my driveway, I did not remove the fenders, just pulled the rear part of the liner forward to gain access. As for the fit & finish of these specific stays, they are great! The color green they are is actually much brighter than what is pictured on the website. & seems like it will be a very durable finish. I really like the design of these as well, very simple but very creative at the same time. Being made of steel, I would not be suprized if these proved to be stiffer than some of the other aluminum stays on the market, and the price is considerably lower. All the bolt holes lined up perfectly. I can also see what people refer to as "better turn-in). Mainly, the car just feels more planted. OH! and a LOT of my bump steer has been reduced. Prior to installing these, I'd be driving down the freeway, hit a bump, and hold on for dear life. With these puppies in, the wheel barely twitches & the car just continues on. Still gotta find some rear Group N hats for my car, if there were such a thing as rear cowl stays, I'd get them. 10/10!!
