Default AKIC- Mountain Bike/Bicycle Thread!

Current bike:

Pulling the trigger on these:
Mine,

Hers,

Getting excited about the trails opening up!!! My wife just started riding with me last year so this will be a huge upgrade from her walmart brand bike. I've had my current bike for 11 years now and I want to stick with the brand and upgrade. Once my tax return shows up in my account these 2 will be ordered!!!!

21 Dec 13 EDIT: Name changed to Mountain/Bicycle.

That is on Winner Creek Trail in Girdwood. You're supposed to walk your bike in for the first mile or so, to avoid hitting the old tourists walking the trail. Past that, it's balls to the wall, but you have to watch it around some blind corners for slow-moving traffic. It's a beautiful ride. At the end is a hand-tram where you can pull yourself over (usually with the help of the people who also want to ride it,) leading to another few miles of trail.

The trailhead is right behind Alyeska Hotel.

Great thread!!! Love to ride! I commute 18 miles most days to work and hit up the Hillside or Kincaid singletrack trails at least once a week, if not more.

My 2012 Speedway Fatback: Just did a 32 mile ride yesterday, was a blast!

Playing on some Hillside Singletrack!

My 2008 Kona Unit 29er: This was my go-to mtn bike until the fatbike came along. It is now for sale!!!

I've always wanted to mountain bike in (or even move to) Alaska. A friend of mine spent an entire summer biking outside of Anchorage. He showed me the 200+ pictures he took of where he was riding. One day.....

I love Mountain Biking in the snow too. You are on the edge of control going 15+mph on a basically unpredictable terrain.

Mine isn't anything fancy or very expensive just a mongoose lol.

I need to get a new rear shifter, a chain and better aftermarket peddles. I wasn't happy with the stock ones. Friend I let borrow it kind of trashed it. Hopefully I'll get it out on some trails this summer.
