Default Conditions for DAM decrease?

I picked up an AP a few weeks ago for my 2011 STi, and being (overly) cautious, I have been running the Stage 1 v3.01 ACN91 map on Chevron 93 gas. I've been logging pretty much every time I drive the car (commuting, etc.), and during the initial few weeks, have seen no issues.

Tuesday, I finally decided to try the 93 octane map. I logged while driving sedately back and forth to work (~50 miles), then did a few squirts to WOT in 4th and 5th to generate some log numbers and see how the car behaved, but did not really get a chance to do a full 4th gear pull.

Upon review of the log I noticed 1 count of feedback knock (-1.4) at 6K rpms which tapered off through the next 6 or so log cells, so I decided to go back to the ACN91 map. I reflashed ACN91 that evening, and parked the car for the night. I did not drive the car on the Wednesday (4th July).

Now here's where it gets strange. I start up the car this morning to go to work and while still sitting in the garage, noticed that the DAM is 0.81.

First off, what are the conditions necessary to trigger a DAM decrease, generally speaking?

Secondly, anybody have an idea as to why the DAM would drop while the car was parked/idling in my garage? Is it due to the knock I logged while on the 93 map (I was under the impression that a reflash would clear out these parameters)? Was the car reacting to some bad condition during startup? Is it related to changing the map too much?

Afterwards, I drove the car very gently to work and after about 20 miles, the DAM came back up to 1, with no anomalies in the log. Still, I am a bit perplexed as to why the DAM changed. Any thoughts?

That specific map for this particular car is designed so that the DAM will be reset to an initial default value of 0.8 when then engine control unit (ECU) is reset. This will occur anytime you reflash a map, reset the ECU (via AccessPORT or software), or disconnect the car's battery. Under normal operation, the DAM will eventually learn up to 1.0 as you've seen. The DAM can drop due to knock, but that is not the case here - was just being reset to its initial value after ECU reset. Keep in mind that some other maps (including maps for your car), may have an initial DAM of 1.0.
