I've seen this discussed a lot on other car forums, but not here. Thought I'd give a heads up to anyone who needs to replace their cracked OEM radiator and doesn't feel the need to spend the $$ for a full aluminum.
On Amazon, there is a radiator brand called "TYC". The WRX version goes for $110. They are just repackaged Koyos (they actually come in a Koyo box). The Koyo branded radiator on Amazon and other sites goes for around $170. So - if you're looking to save $60 and you want to pick up a good OEM style replacement, check out TYC on Amazon.

I found out that these radiators are the same for the auto and manual cars. On the auto cars the trans cooler is located in the bottom of the rad, hence the brass rubber capped barbs at the bottom.
If you have a manual and do not want the barbs for the trans cooler sticking out of the radiator: you can unscrew the flare nut and cap the threads with 3/8" compression caps from the plumbing section of any DIY store. Do not get the flare caps, they will not fit. I'm curious if you could use the AT cooler for the PS system.... |
