You wouldn't prefer a v8 with the same power/liter as bmw's m3? You wouldn't prefer actual unequal length double wishbone suspension setup? You really don't think they would make the car better?
No, because there is a point of diminishing returns (or flat out messing it up). Also, tires help a lot, but thinking sticky tires can turn crap into a diamond is incorrect. The most important part of the suspension is the geometry...the sum of it's parts. Throw awesome tires on a car with poor geometry and it will still handle like crap. GM's got it right with this and trying to change it for the sake of being modern is silly.

Theres a red interior, then theres That RED interior.

Of all the shades of red, they had to pick that one and then turn the volume up to 11

Make no mistake, it only does good because it comes with huge stock tires and a really low CG, which is 90% of handling performance. See that post about whatever squishy suspension car it was recently that was like .5 seconds off the gt3 or whatever. I think it was a Cadillac?
Imma stop you right there..

In a sense they are just like Porsche. They have no desire to drop their DNA when it comes to drive-train. While Porsche does update its tech. They still stick with hanging the motor out its butt end. I imagine Chevy feels the same way with their leaf springs and outdated V8.While Chevy could easily adapt a better suspension and motor to their cars and it may even perform better on paper. I just don't see why the hell they should. The car does just fine with its current drive-train and performs on track with cars costing higher dollars.

Okay, since you're both clueless.. I'll clue you in. The Corvette doesn't have a truck's leaf spring suspension. The transverse composite leaf springs that the Corvette has sported since the C4 are more advanced than the cold-would steel coil springs on your own hoopty. They are not old tech.

The Corvette has double-wishbones at all 4 corners..

The springs allow for ride height adjustment with the turn of a few bolts and they lend some anti-roll characteristics. They also allow for a huge trunk volume and a very low hood height that could not be accomplished with coil springs.

Yes, the C5R & C6R race cars run coilover springs.. that's because swapping and tuning leaf springs for different tracks is much more involved than swapping 2.5" ID springs.

Calling the Corvette suspension outdated because you hear "leaf springs" is horribly ignorant and any arguments you make about it being outdated are laughable.. stop it.

Having owned a car with a burgundy interior, and having seen many interiors with darker shades of red after ten+ years of use, I welcome a bright colour that will resist fade.

Honestly, one thing I really love about this car is the interior layout (MKIV Supra style), though the cluster and steering wheel leave much to be desired.

Agreed, it is an Aztek’ian congleration of every single supercar fad design que thrown together. It is like They are ashamed to let the vette be a vette.

I am not sure why The American designers cannot take a lesson from the Italians.

A pure simple line that is gracefully curved is a thing of beauty. Look at the Ferrari Daytona. Very simple and pure and timelessly wonderful. It was not a rolling gimmick. The classic 911. It has a purity of its design without needed to resort to tacky bolt ons to look relevant. I am not sure why they are taking the vette in this direction. Perhaps they are trying to appeal to a younger audience? The baby boomers are dying out, and the vette sales are STRONGLY connected to the old fat guys in Bermuda shirts buying them year after year. But unless they attract the tuner crowd soon, they will be sunk. I think this may be their misguided attempt to get us ‘tuners’ into the market.

One of the biggest complaints about the C5 when it launched was how visually boring it was. Corvette owners want a look-at-me car.

I want to be a Corvette owner now.

I like it. I'm still a little disappointed in the cheap looking plastics on the dash but I think this car is going to look stunning in person.

Probably rear brake ducts.. like the Z06 has been using.. just cleaner, cooler air from up top.

The brown does look better, but the token Carbon Fiber dash is just too forced.

I knew that already... And originally yes it was a truck leaf spring, just turned horizontally.

Not.

This would be the case if I saw the epitome of race engineering using them (f1 is the benchmark for the best tech and design in engineering prowess) but sadly they don't, for good reason. It's a hack design that works just well enough but not as well as it could.
