Cool Eclipse GSX ... First Gen

YES the first real test for the WRX. I came up on it and it's fart tip. I started to pass him and he decides to speed up but he is no problem to pass with the WRX. He tries to catch up and i just pull away again. IT was very fun.

hum... well, if there was any chance that the GSX was stock, those things run 15s, I got a guy here that I know and he's got quite the list of things on it, but still stock turbo and he's BARELY running 13s but most of the time low 14s... so unless your a 4eat there's no big woohoo

Nothing like putting a cocky driver with a fart pipe in place.

Of course, the 1g DSM is like a box of chocolates...you never know...

I went 12.9 @106 with my stock DSM turbo at 70k miles on the odo.

HeHE I raced my buddy's 1st gen Talon with 16g turbo ACT 2600, Super AFC, GReddy Bov, an full exhaust and repeatedly beat him from a stop or roll or whatever. His car is not running that great and is still on stock fuel but I still beat him. Now a properly setup and maintained 1st gen with the same mods would hand me my rear on a platter. Just thought I would chime in. -KEVIN-

Hey Ian , It's Ian! Good to see you on i-club. I don't think i'll ever get over the fact that you sold your eclipse. That car was nice. Auto cross in the morning, and go drag racing in the evening. Well rounded! So is your WRX still the daily driver or have you started modding it yet?

Hey Ian!
Yeah, my 97GSX was a fun car, but it really wasn't much of a daily driver with the road-racing suspension, 2600lb clutch, aggressive alignment, no back seat, etc. Although, it was fun to surprise people with the 114MPH trap speed and road racing tires when I ran it on the street.
The WRX is a much better daily driver, fun, but it has a back seat, compliant ride, reasonable power, etc. I'll probably modifying it a little more (maybe like yours), but I intend to keep it as a daily driver. If I want to race in a "modified" class, I'm going to build a dedicted racer next time! Going to Island this Friday if you're interested; shoot me an e-mail sometime. "wrx" @gotboost.org

being that I am a newbe and I do not know where everything goes. I thought that Bragging would be where kill stories would go, since that is considered BRAGGING :monkey:

A modded dsm would definatly be no push over for a modded wrx. I've yet to run one but I'm always looking

One of my best friends had a plymouth laser with a 16g turbo, catless, running 14 psi. We raced once from 0mph and he still beat me. From a roll, he would pull on me about 3 cars when we shut down at 120mph. (My car is completely stock.)

haha, sorry i couldn't help but laugh.

That dude must have not known how to drive his GSX, because believe me, ANY 1st gen or not, will beat a stock rex. If the driver has any clue how to drive it. And put $200. into a DSM and $200. into a rex, and see what you get.

Its either the DSM driver didn't want to race, or that fart can exhaust was covering up the fact that it was a non-turbo ricer.

Keep in mind that during the 10 years that the DSM was sold, only something like 10% were turbo'ed. Out of that 10%, only 2% were sold with AWD. That kind of makes my old 2nd gen talon tsi AWD an ultimate sleeper.

They never knew until they tried

Default DS

I just sold my 97 rs DS I had a 16g turbo on it and a thermal exaust system. It is about 500lb lighter than the gsx but i had about 300 lbs of stereo equipment in it
I was running about 5lbs of boost and it ran 13.9s
Plus the track sucked so the first 60ft i was donating rubber
Some of them are pretty quick
A few guys were running 11's and 12's in awd talons
