Default noob question about AP and DP

Hey everyone,
I have a 10 wrx hb and I have recently looked into getting an acessport. I was told that I can run stage two with just the ap and a downpipe? Please educate me scoobie masters.

You won't hear much difference with just a downpipe but you will definitely feel it
