Default JT/EMS 2.35 NL TA Build

Hi guys!

First of all, excuse me if you will find my language/spelling etc incorrect: as a matter of fact I am Russian BUT I have lived in The Netherlands for almost 11 years. Yep, a foreign project

Another important note to be made: since this project is already in motion since December 2011 on other forums, this thread will be a copy-pasta of other posts, so it might look strange, but you'll get the idea

And some topic name explanation:

JT: Jeroentje.nl Tuning, the head builder of the project and the team I will be racing for/with.
EMS: Engine builder&mapper
2.35: I guess the Subaru enthusiasts know the deal...
NL: situated in The Netherlands
TA: built for Time Attack purposes.

So let's get started

My name is Misha, 22 years old and in my daily life I do too much things to get them done within 24 hours even if I'd have no sleep. I am a third year student of Business&Management at Tilburg University, but unfortunately things got out of hand last year and you can call me a second year student. Seems bad, but it gave me the opportunity to buy my Impreza (work>study). Anyway, let's skip that part and get back on topic again.

As a matter of fact, this is my first car. Why, would you ask? Well, if you do so, then I am wondering what you are doing here Imprezas just kick ass. Period.

The project got really out of hand, initially I only wanted to go for a slight turbo upgrade but eventually... you'll see.

This thread will cover up my whole Subaru experience for the past 6 months, I hope you'll find it interesting. Also, it is a compilation of updates through time from other forums, that'll explain strange "update-references". Finally, some other things might be pretty obvious for here, but I have this project running on other forums too, that's why it might contain some childish explanations.

So, what do we have to deal with here?

A nice GC8 MY00, one of the finals as a matter of fact (production was closed 3 months after mine was produced). I bought it like this:

Some minor mods were installed on it:

Magnex full exhaust, EcuTek, Forge BOV and Koni shocks. Overall it gave something between 270 and 290 horses and some nice flames!

The car participated in 2011 ModBall rally from London to Geneva, that explains the stickers (&pics in London). Another explanation is that previous owner worked with me at the sticker company named StickerDUMP.com.

First day: off to carwash & removing fugly stickerbombing

And a few weeks later, after spending over 8 hours and destroying 4 fingernails I got all the stickers removed:

Then the ***** started to get out of hand... Dreams started to knock on my door to become reality: the modding part began.

First some ICE:

Then, my brake pads needed a replacement and so I did:

K-Sport x8 330 front and x4 330 rear + Track Coilovers.

To improve my handling even further, I installed nearly every part from whiteline catalogue, but have not much pics of it

For the safety aspect I got myself a set of Cobra Suzuka Pro buckets & QSP belts:

Not so long after I bought the Impreza, I booked a racing driver course to get to know & to expand my and my car's limits. And since I started to understand that eventually I will end up racing with it I purchased some other nice upgrade:

Racing Technology Dash2 & Data logger

Another upgrade that adds 10 horsepower

Not really, but he warns me on time if cops start tailing me.

Well, 2 weeks before my racing lessons I had an accident on a roundabout that costed me some new whiteline goodies and a set of rims.

BBS replaced the Rota's

And then the fun part started, on 2nd of November I had my first day of racing driver lessons on the circuit of Assen TT:

(SpongeBob quitted his job after few months and got replaced by Eeyore)

and some local Dutch forum member came by:

Here you can see a short fragment of my "get out the way, Impreza coming through!!"-driving during the lessons (filmed from inside of other car, you can see me catch up during first meters):

I had to start in the back, but I soon I regained my leading position

On the last day I became overenthusiastic with powerslidings and I hit a tirewall, as a matter of fact, you still can see the tires on my door .

I can go cry about it, but hey, I took the risk and now I have to take the responsibility. Furthermore, I saw a few people crash more badly into the wall, so this is not such a tragedy. To conclude, again: I can cry about it, but I prefer to laugh about is, so I placed some plasters on my baby (big thnx to stickerdump.com again), I hope she gets well soon!

This was not the only damage, since I was asked to push it to the limit, I pushed, pushed and squeezed out my third gear Luckily, this happened after the exam, so I could obtain my racing licence! Luckily 2: I already had bought a 6 gear box with a twinplate exedy a few months ago, but I waited with installing it before I would start with a new engine.

A new engine... Well, last Saturday I went to EMS in Holland and placed a 75% deposit. You will get the full list of specs soon, but here is a preview:

In the beginning I wanted to go for a pinned 2.5, but then I was offered a 2.35 for nearly the same price (project stop). (To be honest I was trying to buy a yummie 2.35 Lateral Engine here on the forum a few months ago, but suddenly it was "sold", apparently the seller did not take my offer to serious )

What are my plans with it? Time-Attack in Holland I will probably racing for Jeroentje.nl Tuning team, since they did all the work on my car so far, so you can make a predictions on my car's future styling:

Finally here are some final pics that were taken yesterday during a JDM "Wangan Warriors Meeting"

Time for pics!

I visited EMS tuning today to place (hopefully) the last deposit for the engine(ering) costs. I borrowed my girlfriends dslr cam, but I should have spent a few moments beforehand practicing it... so pics turned out a bit blurry. But hey, at least you have something for the weekend...

APS FMIC:

Complete new 2.35 engine, it will be disassembled since we need to place Arrow crank in it (2.5 STI crank chills there now) and convert it to 14mm head studs. Furthermore it has (as already described above) Pauter rods, CP pistons and other modifications already placed.

Oil cooler, again not mine (will be probably slightly bigger), but you get the idea.

6 speed gearbox and Exedy Twin plate clutch.

Thanks for your attention and enjoy your weekend!

Arrow crank, this baby will allow me to run up to 9000 RPM!:

2000cc ID

Yesterday, the build has officially begun: the car is delivered to Jeroentje.nl Tuning who is going to strip and delete nearly everything (even heater etc), install a cage and other necessary ancillaries such as fire extinguisher, kill switch etc. But first, he will remove the engine and bring it to EMS (company responsible for 2.35 build) so they can work further on it (install intake, heads, etc). I just cant wait...

There are some other updates too: As you might have read, I bought a 6spd box a few months ago, but the thing is, it was still mounted on a car when I bought it. A few days ago, I received an email from EMS: Surprise, the box has DCCD installed, but we never knew it, since it was never connected. Aint that cool? Bad Ass drifts are coming!

I am also going to put some wide rims/tyres under it to get better grip, I am thinking of 18x9.75 XXR527 rims with 275 R888 (Yup, we'll need some arch extensions!). Or do you think it will be an overkill? There will be enough power though...

Finally, here is the cage design:

Some extra pics:

And just to justify my decision (so you wont think that I throw with money without thinking): I need a cage for TA, and it would cost me €1900 (only the cage, ex additional labour)... this body has: 22B bumpers, fiberglass panels, cage, licence plate and its a 2-(non dented)door... I could take it for... wait for it.... €2250! I can even make my own Impreza stock again and sell it.

Some updates:

Made some renderings in Forza 4, dont mind every single detail
Server was down during second version, thats why we had to use mopho.

Second version (22B bumpers, another spoiler, golden rims, edited decals)
