Default Alternator wiring

I have an ls1 in my 02 wrx and I need to figure out how to hook up the alternator. The ls1 has a one wire plug, which wires up to the dash charging light. I plan to hook the 2 thick white wires to the rear post of the alt, and the black/white wire to the one wire on the alt, which will go to the wrx charge light. What do I do with the other wire? I believe its blue/red. I looked at the factory wiring diagrams, but I cant really tell what that wires purpose is.

I'm surprised the guys here haven't answered your question.

Well, I'm gonna BUMP this up for you

I was gonna follow-up the question with: "what is an alternator" coz I'm also really curious on what sets it apart from a cars battery as they do both release electricity for the vehicle.

You can just leave the other wire un-terminated, or cut it out. If you have a one wire alternator the voltage sensing wire (the other wire you have left) is unneeded.

I've been running a similar setup for two years now. It works great (as long as the alternator works).
