A friend of mine that is a salesman at the local dealership just sent me this:
![]() He said it is going to an executive or something like that, and that none are being sent to dealerships yet. He says they should be showing up some time in September though. |

Our sales rep told us that Subaru is going to delay the release by about a month, something to do with not cutting into impreza sales. They are now saying October.

That's unpleasant news. I'm already turning blue from holding my breath. If they would at least release pricing and allow orders, I'd feel like there is progress.

Pre-Orders are far surpassing production. Designed for the harsh roads of China and then relenting to let North America have a few has been a great decision. Unfortunately they really meant just a few.

I just spent last weekend looking at this car. After sitting in it and looking at it - right next to an a 5d Impreza, it's the SAME car only lifted.
The interior is the same - so is the engine. I could see no difference other than the wheels and the lift. I asked the dealer and he said it was just a 5d Imprez lifted, new wheels, and also some suspension stuff. I guess it is just the lift and the wheels that make it seem "rugged". Too bad they don't put a turbo or a bigger engine in it, I personally don't think it has the power or torq to be a RUGGED vehicle. I like the looks, but not the power. |

if it were the european diesel it would have more torque and I would buy it in a heart beat.
As for the harsh roads of china, the chinesse are currently protesting against japan by destroying japanesse cars and buying american cars. he he what a lovely world we live in |

looking at buying one for my wife to drive our kid around - hows the cargo space in these? as long as I can fit our dogs in the back with a few groceries, I'd be happy. The MPG is better than I thought it would be. The mitsubishi RVR is pretty close to this - gonna test drive both this week. I wish subaru had mitsubishi's powertrain warranty...

prohobo - The chassis is also a bit stiffer. The difference the suspension makes is noticeable over the Imp, there is much less body roll and it feels more solid and tracks better on bumpy roads.
aeoporta - No doubt! 258 ft/lb of torque would be great. Unfortunately we can't have it ![]() dangina - Cargo space should be just about the same as your WRX give or take a few cubic inches. I'm getting impatient waiting for mine, it's tough being a one car family and working 60 miles from home. Too bad I want the black interior or I could have just taken one from what was in stock. It seems like almost everything that's showing up locally is a color other than DGM or the Khaki that I ordered. |

^^^ Agree that the Crosstrek has a stiffer chassis and less body roll than the regular Impreza.
My wife has a brand new 2013 Crosstrek as a dealership loaner while her 2012 Impreza gets a new ECU (long story). The Crosstrek is surprisingly more composed through the corners. I am also impressed that the CVT is pretty well-mannered, doesn't hunt around a lot, and keeps RPMs generally belong 1800 unless you mash on the gas. It's not a "performance" car but a pretty decent compromise for the skier crowd or dirt road folks who don't want an SUV. Definitely an improvement over the OBS. |

I'll admit...this car has grown on me like a lot of Subaru vehicles (well, with the exception of the current generation Legacy/Outback up until the 2013 refresh). The spoiler in the back definitely adds a bit of flair to it. My family has had four Subarus and aside from the 2005-09 Legacy sedan and the 2006-08 Forester, almost all of them took some getting used to. Heck, even the GR Impreza took me until sometime last year before I said, "Yep, I can tolerate this body style."
I wonder if they're going to completely kill off the Impreza wagon in favor of XV Crosstreks in the US like they killed off the Legacy wagon for the Outback.... |

just picked one up for the wife dgm limited cvt with spoiler premium sound system and 10 inch kicker. i like the car so much i'm buying one too. It handles great it rides beautifully and its awesome on gas. both my wife and I test drove the manual vs the cvt and we both agreed that the cvt is the better option. The manual trans vehicle felt like it had no torque and had a huge power dip in between 2500 and 4000 rpms. the cvt is smoother and more responsive and linear in power

My mom just ordered a sport package white one. She was looking between this, the Equinox, and the Jeep Liberty. We went to Subaru first, and didn't need to go to any other dealerships.

any more updates on the MPG of Crosstrek owners? better/worse? seeing how its a key factor in me buying one, looking at other models but have seen some descrepincies in the mpg figures going on the forums, subaru so far seems to be the only one within 1mpg+- of what they say...
