It was a great fight. But I am disappointed gsp wasn't able to (or chose not to) out kickbox him and put him flat on his back. It kind of bothers me that Hendricks can knock someone stone out and the champion rarely finishes his opponent. Gsp is a specimen in more ways than one, but I every once in a while I'd like to see him put someone on Queer Street

Everyone I was watching it with called it:

"2 mins to go? GSP will go for a takedown and run the time out soon"

zzzzzzzzzzz

I guess it's good that the other 23 minutes were full of action!

Seriously, do you guys expect to see novice-level striking and defense? There was a LOT of action going on during the ground fights, position defense, hard strikes, very technical stuff. When they stood up, both of them threw hard hits and had some strikes that would probably knock out 75% of the UFC roster.

Maybe we need to start throwing steel chairs and sledgehammers into the octagon starting in the second round.

A lot of people seem like 'just bleed' fans not appreciating an ability to have a game plan and stick to it. It may be called fighting safe, but force the other fighter to make a mistake, then capitalize. You can't just rush in with some wild-ass combination hoping something will land.

Takedowns score points, period. If the guy can't defend TD's then shoot! If you think GSP fights boring then I think you may just be a casual fan. The man is smart, and can get it done.

GSP isn't even my favorite WW, Koscheck is. And GSP knew he couldn't out-wrestle him so he had a game plan of jab-jab and move.

As for the Hendricks fight, I think he should get a shot at before GSP fights Anderson.

He's finished 14 of them.

Maybe its boring to other people, but as someone who likes bjj, it was exciting to watch. His escape to stand up after being rocked was sensational.

LOL at all those saying the fight was boring. The fight was one of the best fights i've seen in a while. The flying knee Condit threw countered by a jab to the stomach and cross to the face? The head kick Condit through from a near impossible position that nearly ended GSP's reign? The superman punch followed by a leg kick?

So much action and a very technical fighting. Condit was so close to a triangle and getting his leg up for the arm bar. So much transitions in the fight.

Everyone loved the knockout on Kammpan, but if they watch a youtube video they call it brutal. If you like the sport of mma, maybe there's a bit more to it than just knockouts.

I don't think it is going to be a simple clowning. Silva is a bigger person for sure, but gap possesses the right skill set that has shown to give Silva problems. That being said, if you aren't big enough to hold him down it won't happen. Anyways, I don't think that fight is a good idea for his career right now. Hendricks earned a title shot, the belt should be defended.

GSP sure sounded like he was thinking about retiring and silva's next fight could be his last.

I dont care what hendricks earned. I care about silva gsp. Its now or never.

I'm generally am in the camp that criticizes GSP for not finishing, not looking for that killer blow. But I really think he did well this fight and I did not find it boring at all. Condit is pretty dangerous off his back as anyone watching could attest. He made GSP work for it - sure maybe GSP could've been a bit more aggressive on top but I can respect him being careful in this case. Watching the post-fight conference GSP even touches on how Condit seemed to be baiting him while being on the bottom.

I dunno, people were bitching about this fight being a lay and pray with GSP, I don't see it being any different with Silvia. In fact, I'd say his options would be pretty much limited to that strat.

I can't stand the term lay and pray. But he cant put Anderson on his back too long. Anderson is very active from his back and lanky.

What? Silva doesn't do much from his back, he's just hard to keep down, unless you're Chael (or GSP, possibly).

GSP is no where near as dominating of a fighter as Silva. In for watching him get clowned and KO'd via Dusty Roades style bionic elbow.

He is usually never on his back. But he throws his legs up. GSP is active on top trying to transition, and very smart. Anderson could be aggressive from his back, but he usually isn't there for long. In short I retract my previous statement.

But it is now or never for silva gsp. That gate and ppv will shatter every record , Dana will make it happen if he can. I do agree Hendricks earned it. I'd like to see him and Carlos fight.
