Just wondering what kind of buying/maintenance experiences you guys in Alaska have had with continental?? I stopped by there yesterday and I noticed they have a huge dealer markup on each car next to the msrp paper. Any info on experiences or advice would be awesome, I'm planning on possibly buying a 2006 impreza next year.

Not sure if many AK members will notice this thread here. Just keep posting in AKIC.

More than a couple guys on the board work at Continental, so that has its goods and bads.

I've bought 2 cars there, my 97 Outback Sport I bought used almost 4 years ago. And I just bought my current car there over a month ago. Both experiences were good. My old car, I got for 2 grand below blue book, without talking them down (I knew someone there from a previous buying experience at Continental Honda - long story). I never took it in for service there (didn't have to). My current car, I got as an end of the year sale thing. I did ok on the price, I'm satisfied.

Don't pay that 2 grand markup. Period.

Overall, I liked dealing with Conti both times, it wasn't a high-pressure thing.

Watch out for the bees.

I bought from Continental 5 years ago, First thing I said was NO to the dealer mark-up. Be willing to leave with out the car. Byt he way Auto Service in Fairbanks has no mark-up.

I did notice that, I figure I'm going to buy from one of those 2 places whoever gets me the best deal, even if I have to drive 350 miles to pick up the car. At least theres a little bit of competition in Alaska, better to have 2 choices then just one!

Bought my 2011 WRX Limited Sedan from them back in August of 2010. This place seems to vary from person to person and must be judged on individual visits. There are some people there that I don't really care to deal with, but otherwise I enjoy the staff, a lot of them I've known for years.

I still think it's ridiculous that it takes them 2 hours to do an oil change even though they're SCHEDULED. I've been taking my cars there for the last 4 years now and it's never changed, so I just adjust my expectations accordingly.

We'll see how long it takes anyone else from AKIC to notice this post.
