Default Road & Track STi, Facelift & EvoVII

There is a two-page layout on the S202 STi, the Evo VIII and what is said to be the facelift pic. It's the same as the 2nd and 3rd pics down rexilla.com the yellow and the blue with multi-section headlights. No change to the scoop or anything else that I can tell. Take a look at the Oct. issue of Road & Track (I don't have a scanner available until Tuesday). They also say the Evo is going to come in at 28,000, so hopefully our STi will be less...

Default On closer inspection...

It's the same pic as the blue one on rexilla. If Road & Track got fooled by a photoshop job, that would be something...Looks genuine to me though.

I wouldn't be so quick to call that image a Photoshop job. That image in Road & Track did come from a Japanese magazine, as the rexilla site shows. Does that mean it's legit, who knows?

The front ent of the EVO looks like a Pontiac (Vibe or Aztek).

Agreed. The EVO should stick with the rectangular multi-funtion headlights. That picture looks like something better left to the aftermarket.

That's not an accurate picture of the Evo VIII. The VIII does retain the same headlights as the VII.

Are you sure it's the 26th for the Evo? The Evo isn't supposed to be official unveiled until the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Probably the 26th is correct for the new nose of the WRX becuase it is being unveiled at the Paris Auto Show.

I can only assume Scoobie Newbie was asking about the media ban on the Evo.

that's for the Subbie...I don't know about the Evo. I don't think there is a ban for it. The President of Mitsu Of NA has already announced the Evo.

For what it's worth and I am new to this forum, (so please take it with a grain of salt!) my WRX salesman said I could trade my WRX for a STi as early as July of 2003. This is where it gets funny, he is VERY Swedish(I'm in Minnesota) and says his brother is a rally driver in Sweden and that he has reliable sources in Europe stating the mid-summer arrival of the Sti. This, I'm sure is not news to the regulars on this forum but I thought it suitable to print.

Seems kind of odd that Europe would care about a US release for the STi

If you read that article in the posted picture, it says that they are changing the styling of the WRX to appeal to more people in other countries.... yet... I find that the way they portray it in the article looks.... WORSE! They should just make the morette headlamps standard and it would be fine =) Oh and maybe mold the scoop into the hood to make it look more natural? Also, the pictures shown here of the lancer look even worse... what gives?

Man, you are high if you think the Morrette's look good! Those things are so ugly.

STi projectors, now that makes all of the difference in the world when it comes to the WRX Facia. IMHO of coarse!

I've got agree with BADWRX on this one. IMO The Morettes are a horrible solution if you want to improve the front end looks. The first easily availiable solution, and a bit more accessible, but ugly.

The projectors do it enough for me.(Considering I've got them)

Default BIG NEWS

BIG NEWS that was over looked:

The picture of the Blue WRX in a previous post from Road & Track DOES have a credit: computer-enhanced photo by best car

So it is CONFIRMED that it is a PHOTOSHOPPED PICTURE!!!!

I too agree that Morettes are ugly and the worst part is you cant add the sti grill which is one of the greatest cosmetic improvements you can make on the car.

Double Ditto. Morretes are gross. Projectors (OE) rock.

I disagree. Morettes are fantastic, if they're painted to match the car, which mine are. I like the OE projos too, but damn they're expensive for LHD! I don't care much for the UK300's, though.
