Default Koni's & Ground Controls Installed in My Wagon

Well I finally got the parts in. I'm happy with how it looks and it rides much firmer now. There isn't nearly as much body roll, but I'm getting some noises I'm going to have to work out.

I think I'm going to try tieing the coils to the strut tops and the perch to keep it seated properly.

Then I have some height adjustments to do and an alignment of course.

Eric,

Glad to see you're on the road to your new obsession.

Did you get a set of tender/helper springs with your kit? That might eliminate the noise(s) you're hearing. Otherwise, you might want to check with GC to see if they have a set of coil silencers.

Cheers,
MB

schlong8 - Thanks for the welcome, as I am fairly new to i-club. I have posted a few times, but you'd be the first to welcome me. Oh ya and you nailed the location for my pics.

bigbear522 - It took me about 8h to do, but I ended up playing around a lot and I took my time. There was a fair amount of learning involved with getting everything setup and the struts ended up being built disassembled and reassembled a few times to get good results.

Markus - The Ground Controls don't have any helper springs, so the rear end is moving around more than I'd like. I have wed and thur off, so the rear struts are going to be coming out again. I'm going to try adding some more rubber and tying everything together.

I did a day trip to Jasper yesterday and the car performed great on the trip. I ride was getting kind of bouncy part was to Edson so I pulled over turned to Koniís another ľ turn and wow itís much better. I love driving those mountain roads in this car. Even better is now the car hardly has any body roll. Iíve attached a pic on the road to Marmot Basin. Just couldnít resist.

Eric,

Since GC uses Eibach springs, and i've seen coil silencers on the Eibach Pro Kit before, I'd imagine that it would be a simple matter to get some of that "plastic wrap" for the springs.

If not, perhaps you could make your own with some silicon tubing that will match the wire diameter ofthe spring.

Just thinking out loud.

Cheers,
MB

Not the yellow one!

Default Good to see ya

I have been waiting for you to get these things installed. How is the ride? Vibrations? noise? Did you get any swaybars?

You had said that you wanted it lowered - mission accomplished

That picture on the marmont road looks great - the car looks surprisingly flat - were you pushing it?

I bet you can't wait untill the next autoX!

Till then
Randy

Markus - good idea I'll have to see if I can find some coil raps.
Did you put the whiteline ones in yours?

Randy - The ride is pretty good. It's harsher than it was before, you relly notice it a lot more over the slow washboard. There doesn't seem to be any vibrations and it feels better than it did before at high speeds.

The noise I hope to have addressed soon.

If you want to take it for a drive after I get this done just let me know.

Oh yeah and if you don't mind I'd like to compare your headlights to mine so I could adjust then some time. They really suck at night right now. I think my highs are equivalent to most lows.

No noise issues with my Whitelines, so there wasn't a need for me to wrap them.

I look forward to seeing your times improve at the next autocross.

Cheers,
