Default Is a auto climate possible in an 02 wrx

I saw this on ebay and was curious if it could work on my car.

Don't waste your money or time. There's lots of other stuff that would be needed to make that work, and an awful lot of labor. All to avoid turning some dials.

The 02 wrx come factory with auto climate on the aus spec models

But the dials are not the only things needed to make it work

I have seen a few threads like this... but everybody always just says not to do it, but nobody says why, or what's required...

You have to change out the heater as well because there are no motors to move the flapper and mixer valves needed for the auto control (manual system uses cables), you need to add the ambient temp sensor outside the car, some years need a sun sensor on the dash and an interior temp sensor, some years there is a recirculation tube for the auto climate control panel that needs to be added into the HVAC system, etc.

It can certainly be done, but the general consensus is that its a large amount of work for a system which, from my reading, works marginally well anyway. I looked into it a while back since I had a full 04 STi dash and had access to the rest of the system for very cheap, but I too decided it just wasn't worth it.
