there are tonssss of post about ebay turbos. they come needing a rebuild(usually) and have a great chance of breaking and destroying your motor. why chance saving 200-300$ on a part that can ruin the whole engine?

Report back to us when your motor is toast! Seriously, one of the most important parts of your car and your going to use a no name brand and take the risk?

Well just my two cents I know of three wrx's in my area that r running eBay 20g's and two sti's running 35r's plus a host of other people that run different cars and they all have eBay turbos and don't have any problems with the turbos and they see there fair share of boost and see some street racing but that's not to say that there aren't bad ones also

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead.

I'm currently running one of these turbos, TD05-20G-8, (not even sure if it's an ebay one), on my 06 STI, with a nvidia 3" downpipe, CAI, and some sort of a custom tune. I just picked up the car so before I go out booting around in it I need to know what it is has.

What are a few things I should look into immediatly?

Thanks!

Really should have looked into this before you bought the car. But.... Who tuned it, and the make of the turbo. 20g is a size not a brand. There are lots of 20g makers or there some good some bad.. Also 20g is the extern upper limit of what is say these Cars are capable of handling stock block... With a good tune

I saw dyno tunes on the site with the 20g, looks like alot of people are running a TD05-20G-8, i'll try to find one of those threads.
