Question The Simpsons channel?

Fox considering TV channel that plays nothing but The Simpsons

Quote:
By now there are enough episodes of The Simpsons to sustain several future generations, and with its 500th outing rapidly approaching and no signs of stopping, it’s reasonable to assume that The Simpsons could last well into the 23rd century, where it will spark an apocalyptic war between the last remaining nitrogen-breathing lizard-people and their cyborg enemies over which season marks the turning point where it started to sort of suck. But already there are so many Simpsons episodes stockpiled that Fox is considering devoting an entire digital cable channel to nothing but: News Corp. COO Chase Carey recently told an audience at the Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Media Communications & Entertainment Conference (probably less wild than it sounds) that there have been a “number of meetings” regarding the possibility of an all-Simpsons network, noting the responsibility of taking full advantage of a show with “a volume that is unprecedented.” Of course, before any of that could happen, Fox would have to wrap up all of the show’s current long-term syndication deals, but it’s not totally implausible to think that someday soon, you’ll be able to filter all of your culture entirely through The Simpsons—which, actually, wouldn’t be a drastic change for a lot of us.

Back in 2004 there was this group on winamp video where they had 25 channels. Each channel was just 1 show, and it played each episode in a row, forever.

It was pretty awesome.

Not sure how much I'd pay for it, but I'd watch it for sure.

Though they are on all the time anyways, at from 8 - 11 I can pretty find an ep of the Simpsons on some channel.

Sign me up as long as Fox promises let the 90s episodes out of the vault. See my screen name for fanboy nerd authenticity.

There were a few gems up till season 10, but it was pretty much over after then.

I'd say season 11 was the last that had any relatively decent episodes; though I say that because they did "Behind the Laughter" that season and it's one of my favorites.

In a nation that watches Ice Road Truckers on a channel called History, I'm sure this will be a hit.

We'll all be on insulin, oxycodone, and disability rotting in our Vitamin Water-soaked-couches when 'Muricah dies her final death.

I've pointed out to folks in the past that, in a complete swap from TV's early days, we now have way more broadcast capacity than we do quality programming. While I happen to think the Simpsons is a very good show overall, the ability to have an entire channel for them, or for shopping, or music videos, or Disney, or for weather, etc. should surprise no one.

I'm old enough to recall when 'cable' was sold to people as a way to never watch a commercial again - since you're already paying for the programming.

yeah - right

It's kind of happening... for 12 days

Quote:
Grab some Krusty Burgers and a case of Duff’s. To celebrate “The Simpsons” coming to FXX, the network will launch its record breaking complete Simpsons marathon starting on August 21st. Every single episode will air in order on FX.

The marathon includes 25 seasons of The Simpsons run in chronological order and equaling 552 episodes all together. To cover that many episodes, the marathon is going to take some time. For 24 hours a day, The Simpsons marathon will run for 12 days straight – from Thursday, August 21st starting at 10 am et until Monday, September 1st concluding at 12 am et. The next day on Tuesday, September 2nd, The Simpsons will air regularly on FXX in fringe dayparts, prime time and late nights during the week and on weekends. Also, on Sundays, FXX will air mini-marathons of The Simpsons, each with a special theme.

Also, as a bonus feature to the 12 day marathon, FXX will include “The Simpsons Movie”. The feature film will air right after episode 400 during the marathon.
Now is the time I wish my DVR accepted external HDDs

I don't think I've watched a new episode in around a decade if I had to guess.

I still watch them, but they get lower and lower on my DVR playlist. I think I still have the last episode from the spring season I haven't watched.

If I had to guess, I would say the last time I watched a new episode was some time around 2000-2001.
