A few things I'd like to address.

We had parking lot security and staff hired. They shouldve taken care of the revving. I asked all of the gate staff to tell each and every driver "Please drive slow, dont rev your car, stay safe and have a nice day". And I heard each and every one of them tell that to each and every driver.

As far as alcohol, we didnt set the prices, I dont even know what the prices were, we didnt make a nickle on the beer garden. The beer garden was actually against our wishes.

The raffle takes long, yes. We had 61 prizes to give away from 33 sponsors. We have to give everyone a fair chance to check their tickets. Some people had 20 tickets or more. And yes, I often times will hold the high dollar/high popularity items for last. As far as announcing the prize, I was the one standing between the MC and the Model, reading off the list for the MC to announce. Unless there were one or two I dazed out on, he announced the sponsor and prize for every prize. For people winning multiple prizes, they put in more than one ticket, therefore, more than one chance to win. The tickets are picked at random and the tickets are mixed up before pulling. It wouldnt be fair if we told them no they cant win a second time. And our raffles will ALWAYS be based on the number, must be present to win. We're not going to chase people down to get their free items to them. Our sponsors are not going to chase down people to give them their free items.

Gates opening late was an issue with the venue's security staff needing to be briefed and showing up late.

As far as the line, Gates were scheduled to open at 9, so if you showed up at 6, you cant whine that 3 hours against us. Gates opened at 9:30, it took us an hour and a half to completely clear the gate when I closed it down to 1 lane. 90 minutes to move 1500+ vehicles.

Next year we would like to do more than 3 lines, and definitely seperate the presales from the cash lines. And have signage out. But of course, to do this, we need volunteers. We had over 70 sign up as extremely interested, 40 showed up to the briefing for the free t-shirt and goodies, half of that showed up to do their jobs, and even some of those left. I actually had signage made for lines, however, we were so short staffed we couldnt put them out. Subiefest 2012 was my 7th event of the size, and that was the first time Ive ever seen a flake ratio like that. If you were one of the people who got a free t-shirt and flaked, you should be ashamed of yourselves, and expect an email from me.

Yes, the organizers are in charge of everything at the event. However, everyone is responsible for themselves. Things like theft and drinking to your limits and acting like an asshat is all on the individual. Look at your peers, yell at them, not us.

Bathroom, as well as food lines, prices, selection, etc..has nobody ever been to a fair? Or a concert? I paid $34 for 3 chicken tenders, a handfull of fries and a beer last time i went to a concert. There were supposed to be hand washing stations, Im not sure what the issue with that was, and that will be addressed.

Dealing with Fairplex was a bit of a PITA. The amount of changes thrown at us days before the event was just huge.

Anyone who thinks these events are easy, let me give you a glimpse at our world. I woke up at 4am in Boston on Thursday. Got on a plane, got to LA 10am Local time. Got out of the airport by noon, worked until 1am.(Thats 24 hours awake) Woke up at 4am Friday, worked until 1am again.(45 hours out of 48 awake) Woke up at 4:30am Saturday, got to event site by 6am. I ate, oh, maybe 4 french fries all day. The longest I stood in 1 spot on Saturday was about 5 seconds (Excluding the raffle.) All of this preceded by countless 1am nights we worked in the months/weeks prior to the weekend. Some of you happened to notice that I was having a hard time staying upright during the raffle, and booked it the hell out of there right when the raffle was done. I was that exhausted.

I will absolutely agree the event needs a little help. That help will come from volunteers. Our staff is volunteer based. Without volunteers, simply put, we wouldnt have an event.

An absolute major thanks to Robert and Brian, to our team leaders Liz, CJ and Brittani, and to all the volunteers who showed up, did not only your assignments but also the assignments of others. Thank you to all of our vendors for your support and generosity. And to ALL attendants, and ALL comments/criticism. Without feedback, we couldnt improve our event.

If you think you can help the event improve, I urge you to volunteer for 2013. We take care of our staff.

Any vendors who have feedback, good or bad, you have my email address and phone number. We've also sent out a survey for you.

See you next year.

Sincerely,
Khanh

Yeah we had our Subaru Dog Collar and Subaru Dog leash lifted from our booth as well. What happened to honest fellow Subaru owners...geez.

It is sad to see all these items being stolen! In the last ten years I have been in the Subaru community, it has inherited some shady people over the last couple of years.

Hasn't Pomona always had its issues with crime?

Subarus are starting to become cheap and I could see parts getting jacked more than Hondas.

Sucks its coming to this

It wasn't Pomona, it was Subaru enthusiasts themselves doing dishonest acts. Khanh you did a great job as well as the other leaders, thanks for allowing me to be part of it. I did so little compared to you guys and I was at 4 stations alone for hours, I didn't have time but for a donut and 1 bottle of water.

Stealers gonna steal and whiners gonna whine - welcome to a self centered society. But that's whole 'nother heated 15000 post thread we can start elsewhere. [/hijack]

These shows bring in people from all walks of life, unfortunately, the shady ones too. Sad, really, that we have to keep things secure in order to keep people honest. :-(

The only issue I had was AGAIN with the food line. This is not an issue of a low volunteer rate, but something that was suppost to be fixed. I was really hesitated coming this year because of last years lines. After being repeatedly assured this issue was address in this thread I decided to take a leap of faith and show this year.

Besides that it was a fun show. Lots to check out. The vendors were awesome. Edo had some awesome deals going on and were helpfull. Rallysport was equally helpfull and were willing to answer any questions. The raffle prizes were good, although I don't thing one person should win twice per vendor. This happened twice. Give everyone a chance to get one thing.

Highlight of the day for me was two guys at the Moroso booth. They claimed that everthing on there cars were Moroso. Then one guy asked the booth attendant how much additional power he could get with the Moroso crank showing at the booth. The booth attendent looked confused and I had to try not to laugh.

I had plenty of fun this year and last year I was helping work the event. I am kinda disgusted on how some people attending the event act and steal and complain. Is it really that hard to pack a ice chest with some waters or drink of choice and some sandwiches? If you all knew how hard the people work to put on the event including the volunteers you would think twice before complaining, trust me I worked my butt off last year and even enjoyed it!! My only downer about this year is we had a little canopy set up so we didn't fry in the sun and a "security" officer made us take it down, but said absolutely nothing to the other 5-6 that people had up, one of them being right next to us.... Other then that I had a ton of fun and will be there next year! Good work everyone!

As an anxious owner to be I had a blast at this years event. Got great vibes from the people and vendors, got all my questions answered, and got to put hands on some of the mods I have been drooling @ online. I totally plan to volunteer for next years event.
