Dumped all day and was super deep. At least 18" on the west side of the mountain. Was 13* at the top of Northwest Express when I checked at 12:30. Fun day but the weather was starting to get gnar when we left at 1:30. I had had my fill of face shots by that time.

Finally got to take advantage of my free season's pass at Crystal. I haven't boarded in a few years and it is great to be back on the mountain.

Subaru also has a large presence there and is giving away a bunch of free swag.

Hoping to get up later this week. Was up last Wednesday, and thanks to the inversion, it was 50 at Meadows. Glad we're finally getting some more snow.

Went to Alpental yesterday morning for the opening. 35 inches of fresh but freaking heavy pow. I wish it was few degrees cooler.

Ride a Never Summer....Is this SBF or NASIOC? I went last tuesday to Crystal, they had about 2 feet of some super heavy pow, but it was a blast. I swear i almost suffocated from face shots a few times lol. I normally ride at snoqualmie, i have a 2012 Gnu Danny Kass (purple base with GNU wings) with grey 2013 Burton Cartels. I normally ride alone and wear a green POC helmet with "tune in" colorway EG2's, so if you see me on the hill give me a shout!

That's all I ride is ziptech. Except instead of Volcom my stuff is Ride. Used to have Burton gear with ziptech and then Volcom patented it. Ride gets around it by using an external zipper on their pants

ziptech? are zippers really consider technology now? I've got snap/loop tech on my burton jacket/pants I don't seem to get snow. Of course, the problem is that I don't want to spend the cash to replace it all in one swoop so i'm kind of stuck with Burton gear because of the jacket/pant interface, er, technology. :P

yeah i had burton (old ronin from 2000 or so) and it had loops, but i never used them on my columbia pants and only got snow on hard falls or deeeeep pow.

then i found a volcom jacket from four years ago for sale at buffalo exchange for 35 bucks and that convinced me to drop the coin on the pants. of course, i also immediately thereafter caught a cold. can't wait to get up there with all my new gear.

what are you guys using for outerwear jacket/pant combos? My current gear is pretty much done and i'm looking to buy some new stuff once the sales start hitting. I typically like to go with a single brand for pants and jacket. Its nice to have something like zipte... a pant/jacket interface to keep the snow out. I've only worn Burton as mentioned earlier, but gonna check out some Volcom stuff at the outlet near my house.

Is Airblaster any good? I kinda like their styles.

Burton "the jeans" pants and "esquire" shell with my DC base layer on normal temp days.

Holden "phillips" jacket if it's really cold.

dogfunk has killer deals.

I wear all Oakley outerwear now. They've definitely stepped up their outerwear game in the past years. I'm currently riding the older Oakley Primed jacket and Choice Goretex pants. They have the storm skirt that zips into the pants. Both the Jake Blauvelt and Seth Morrison pro kits are KILLER.

Never been a fan of the Volcom outerwear, I've tried on a few of their higher end Goretex jackets and through they were super heavy (I like lighter shells so I can layer).

I've done the Burton AK thing before too. Good stuff, but the jacket sleeves were too short for my lanky arms. I still have a pair of AK pants that I wear from time to time.

I've done Airblaster thing before too. Cool stuff, but doesn't quite hold up to my thrashing. I got their highest end jacket (AK Blaster) but it only lasted a year for me.

I love how goretex breathes and stays dry.
But it has never lasted for me.
I have shredded every thing I've own that is goretex. No goretex has lasted more than 2 seasons for me. I've slapped on stuff from Northface, Columbia, salomon, etc... No prior gear has lasted me more than one season with the exception of a kick ass patagonia shell I picked up at ross for $11.
My current pants are by Ride and I'm rocking a Burton coat I picked up at TJMax. Been rocking them for over 2 season now, just as waterproof with hardly any signs of wear.
I do have a pair of airblaster pants that I've never worn. Found them on a good deal and figured my Rides would last just as long as my other gear. I bought them around the same time as my Rides, they are still sitting in my closet with tags.

p.s. Some friends of mine use Burton's AK series for over 4-5 years and they shred pretty hard. Stuff looks bombproof, but too expensive for me.

I'd really like to try out some stuff by Holden, they can be found for cheap on gearslash.com or it's sister store soltice supply. Sounds like a solid company with good ethics.

thanks for the responses. I really like the AK stuff but as mentioned, its pretty expensive. I'll have to check out the Oakley and Ride stuff too. Oakley seems like it would come with a hefty pricetag too though. hmmm, maybe i'll go hit up the oakley outlet up in marysville.
