Joel, I really do enjoy traveling, seeing new places, and experiencing different cultures. But man, I have an emptyness inside me that can only be filled by one experience brotha .

Matt, that's a sick stick man!

weekend + monday was super sick at tline & bach

We got major dose of riding in over last 3 days. The billy goat split is a super fun board- highly recommended

*Sat morning- we went up to tline at dawn and skinned up to palmer for some sweet pow turns down
*Sun & Mon- went to Bach, both days we hiked up the cone early AM for best turns of the year(waist deep on Sunday). The resort riding wasnt bad either- struggled with fitness a bit on Sun thru some of the heavier snow but by Mon the legs felt a ton stronger- gotta give some cred for that to riding the bike 15 mile roundtrip daily to work.

This weekend is looking sick all around the Cascades- we will be taking Avalanche level 1 course all weekend from Mountainsaavy down at Hood. Looking forward to be educated!!

Hey all. New to the area, but grew up riding in SLC. So is a day like today gonna be one where you want to stay home? Stevens pass is saying 100% chance of rain after 11 and above freezing temps. I have the day off and just woke up. Trying to figure out what to go do.

Steven's was great today. Glad I got the snow tires.

So as far as pass options for the Seattle area what does everyone suggest?

Holy pow! Stevens was incredible today. They were supposed to open the backside for the first time this year, but between the wind and heavy snow loading ski patrol kept it closed. It'll open tomorrow, I'll be up there again.

39" overnight at Stevens. That was not a typo. Unreal. I'll post more later tonight.

Wow! 39" at Stevens.
And I thought Crystal was awesome Saturday, except for the line at the Northway chair.

Ski patrol was saying it was something like a 100-year storm. 39" at the base, over 5 FEET at the top of Tye Mill. 3% water content too, COLD SMOKE! HUGE HUGE HUGE props to Stevens Pass Ski Patrol for working their tails off to make is safe for us. Everything was late opening for avy control, 9:30 for Chief, after 10 for both Hogs and Sky, around noon for Tye and the backside. Sooo deep, sooo light. Knee to waist deep turns pretty much all day. There were a couple runs on the backside that were chest deep. No joking, it was incredible. Didn't have my GoPro yesterday and my P&S was low on battery so I didn't get too many pics, but here's what I got.....

I thought the 39" they showed on the website was a typo until I got up there:

Looking up Chief before the lifts turned:

The line for Chief after our first run:

Schim's trees towards the end of the day:

Obligatory self shot:

More of Schim's.

Is anyone out here riding powder board specific set ups? Or are these low water percentage storms few and far between?

^^I do (Salomon Sick Stick 163). I ride it anytime there's more than 6"-8" of fresh. These low water % storms aren't that common, and really you don't need a pow specific board to efficiently ride blower pow. The heavy stuff we usually get is really where you want a pow specific board that'll keep the nose up.

I have a 156 Fish I use sometimes for 8"-12", it's smaller size is nice in the tight trees.
I also have 164 Rossignal Twilight I use for uber big days. It floats like mad, smooth like a cadillac (but turns like one too). It only comes out a few times a year.
My daily ride is a 162 NS Heritage and IMO does really well in the pow.

My Fish cost me $40ish used. The twilight was about $150sih I think, new from Evo.
I think I have another big stick that I bought brand new somewhere for nothing (ride I think?).

It's nice to have one in the quiver if you find a really good deal.
