I do. And so does my main riding partner. I ride a '68 Head AK on the deep days (like the 16" day we had Sunday before last). It has a huge spoon nose, is relatively flat between the feet and has a small tail.

This is what she looks like -

My buddy rides a 174cm Lib Tech on the deep days.

I ride a 162 K2 gyrator on 8"+ days. I picked it up last year for $140 with bindings. I've never understood how much more fun pow is on a pow board.

I've got a Nitro Team Gullwing for 4-8" days. I also use that for days away from Snoqualmie where I don't know what kind of conditions I'm going to get. Rides the crud well enough and floats the pow well enough (not like a pow board of course).

<4" days I ride the Capita Ultrafear.

Here's a vid from last Saturday at Snoqualmie. Not a lot of strong riding, but still real fun. Also on said Gyrator board:

Thanks man. About two weeks ago my contour HD went belly up and started over exposing everything. Apparently it had had enough epic stoke. I had some money saved up for a new camera body but thought I might actually get more use out of a new helmet cam so I dipped into the savings. Its a gopro hero3 black edition. It is a really sweet camera. Does the timelapse photos as in that board waxing video and will shoot up to 4k resolution. But only at 15fps. It will however shoot in 1080p at 60fps. Will make for some good smooth slowmo. Plus the picture is very good. There's nothing else out there that touches it. If contour had the 1080/60fps, I probably would've gone that route because I prefer the form factor. Im looking forward to Friday for the iPhone app that has live view. That'll be great for aiming and also for playback.

the biggest thing I don't like so far is the battery. I was able to selectively take video from about 9-11 in 30* weather. The gopro site says it will shoot continuously forb2.5 hours. That doesn't say at what temp and at what resolution. What I do know is that the WiFi kills the battery super quick. For winter, I won't likely use that feature.

Way to get after it Joel.. looks like that Gyrator is treating you well. A note about waxing.. you should always take your bindings off to wax as it can distort the board/wax job with the additional weight and tension the bindings put on the board.

I was about to ask, have you been introduced to the wonder of the Salomon SickStick. If you end up going that route, which I highly recommend, make sure to get the sickstick and not the snake as the bamboo is one of the important ingredients that make this one of the funnest boards you will ever ride. I loaned my ss to two of my buddies, both of which went out and got one of their own shortly after. It's not a quiver killer, but for the PNW it's pretty damn close to one.

Perhaps Joe can post up a pic of the ss trifecta at Big Red Cats from last years B.C. pow outing. Untill he does here I am surfing with the ss:

Joel- How does the Hero compare (fitment wise) when compared to the countor?
My countour went belly up as well, I think he magnetic switch failed. I want another countour but I really like the features that Hero offers.

+ 1 for bamboo- one of my pow sticks has a naked bamboo top sheet. I love how it rides AND how it looks. I even did a light stain on it to enhance the texture/grains and to better protect it.

I mounted it on the front of my helmet. Kind of miners light style. The annoying thing is that when im not using it, I've got this big black adhesive mount front and center of my center right green helmet. I should throw gopro an email suggestion for clear adhesive mounts. so I like the form factor of the contour much better. I actually almost returned the gopro for the contour plus 2. However at the same pricepoint, I felt the gopro had way more to offer. Oh it also has two more modes I like. It will shoot up to 10fps in still mode. The other interesting picture mode is the burst mode. It will shoot 30fps for one second. Not sure if that'll actually be useful, but its something interesting to try.

Ebrake-n - I normally pull the bindings off when I wax, but this was just scraping the summer wax off. Plus I had already wqxed two pairs of skis beforehand. I was ready to be done.

edit: alpental opens tomorrow. Sadly cant make it.
