Default Traffic ticket attorney

Anybody used an attorney to fight it? I got a 51 in a 40 in Mesa from a "red light" camera.

Seems like you would spend more on a lawyer than the ticket.

^^^ I thought that wasn't real, like in Horrible Bosses I always wondered how they knew the speed and even then I didn't think they issued speeding tickets for red light cameras. I'm pretty sure a lawyer can get you off the hook though. I used to be a radar tech and the shop manager explained it, something about proving the device was within calibration/tolerances for the date range, etc. etc. Alot of radar devices are operating out of tolerance. If they didn't use radar and use the photo method though then you might be SoL (where they capture a photo, wait, then capture another and calculate your speed).

Honestly, I don't know how fast I was going. The light was yellow as I was approaching the intersection. I glanced in the rearview mirror and saw the fat guy on the Harley right on my ass and decided to accelerate instead of slam on my brakes and have the guy potentially rear end me. I made a split second judgement call and I honestly feel that I wouldn't have gotten a ticket if an actual officer pulled me over instead of a machine with set parameters.

I'm only human and when I make mistakes I man up. This world is not black and white, there are a lot of gray areas and I feel that this is one of those areas. I also know that I have the right to defend myself and I find it quite UN-American for you to suggest that I just go down without a fight.

Apparently the red light cameras also double as speed cameras.

Did you get served? Or just a ticket in the mail?

If you were served, you have to either appear and fight it, pay the fine or go to school if your eligible. If you weren't served, you could try and avoid the process server for 90 days and the ticket would get dismissed... Go to school if you can, it will be less than an attorney and the ticket won't go on your record...

A couple of years ago, I would have just ignored it. But now, I guess the specific camera's are run by the city instead of Redflex which makes them "legit." I used to have prepaid legal so the last ticket I got, I just submitted it to them and it all went away.

The ticket is $220 plus now I think I have to pay for the process server which is another $50. I'm not sure how much traffic school is so I'll have to look into that. I would much rather pay an attorney the money than the courts.

I had to do traffic school recently... I vaguely remember seeing something that said it wasn't an option for enforcement cameras. I hope I'm wrong.

btw... when I got that ticket it was a case of "ok I'll do the traffic school, cause it could have been much worse if they'd caught me 5 minutes ago!" Don't think there are many of us on here that can say hand on heart say they have never been a few mph over.

Lol! I'm always a few over! And for school it's going to be about the same cost as your ticket! I got a ticket from a motorcycle cop for doing 51 in a 40 :b! Did the school which is do pointless cause it didn't have to do with anything about driving.... Lol! Just do some more research! Good luck!

My friends brother owns the Baker Lawfirm. I know he does DUI but you could call him about traffic law. Really cool guy and his prices are decent, for a lawyer.
