Put in a set of std size acl race bearings in my ej22t and ran it for less then 50km, tore the engine apart again for forged pistons, sould I buy new bearings again or should I re-use these ones, crank surface looks great, but the bearing doesnt look as fresh as when they where installed, has some small marks on them in some spots.
I'll try to get some pics tonight.

For such low use I would re-use. Those bearings are not like head gaskets, which of course you must replace.

If they look good reuse them, no problem.

Probably wouldn't hurt to measure the clearances with some plastigauge. It's cheap and quick and won't leave you wondering if your clearances are out of whack or not.

If the bearings were measured when installing them first time and they are to be used on the same block/crank/rod combination and show no (obvious) signs of wear I'm pretty sure the will still be within spec!
In all other cases you are right ofcourse. |
