Oh to dis the Federal will bring the full wrath of Uncle Scotty...
I've been running the 595R-SR and am on my second autocross season. They are FANTASTIC tires! I'm running a 235/40/17 on RPF01's and I think this size is perfect for my 5 speed gearing.
I've seen this "cracking" on another set. (mine have not experienced this) Been there since almost day one, and has survived a year+ autocrossing.
I really don't see the need for a 275, even the top autocrossers won't go that wide. It just seems ridiculous on a daily driver.

I bought the federals back in 2007 and I personally won't buy them again. They are probably better now but I won't buy that brand again, just like I wont buy ford. I also had the same problem with the nexens I purchased.

You are probably correct the the 275 maybe to wide. I am most likely going to go with either 255 or 265 depending which one is going to fit better on my car

....you had a bad experience with two sets of one model of Federal tires. The SS's are not the same as the ones being discussed. I also wouldn't pass judgment on an entire line. For example, I've had some pretty crappy Bridgestones on my cars (like RE-92's and Geolanders) but also some rather good ones (like RE-01R's).

EDIT: forgot that the Geolanders were Yokos but hopefully you get the point.

so your 5 almost 6 year old experience is still valid????

nah....all manufacturing has issues

dont be an idiot and cry rivers about 5 year old issues...when there are SO MANY happy campers out there who have had no issues

and the fact that you had the same issues with 2 brands tells me that YOU are doing something wrong

Damn bro, idiot and crying? . Wtf, people can't have personal preferences now because you think it the best thing since sliced bread. Calm down and no I wasn't doing anything wrong. I have been buying tires for about 20 years.

Relax uncle Scotty!

I highly doubt that Shu Jam Na has the time to both run the company AND race in a series (and perform well enough in it) that would qualify him for an FIA Super License.
