09 wrx clock/airbag issue

Tried searching, couldn't find anything. So sorry if this has already been answered somewhere.

The clock cluster area of my 09 WRX has recently been acting funny. It will not illuminate at all, unless, someone is sitting in the passenger seat. If someone is in the passenger seat it turns on. The other issue is that when someone is sitting in the passenger seaet it say the passenger side airbar is off and the airbag light comes on. I don't know if this is just a simple fuse issue or something bigger, but I thought I'd ask here.
